Jane Mapes was supposed to represent me in a difficult divorce. Instead, she handed me off to her paralegal and disappeared. No proper communication, no preparation, no advocacy. They billed me heavily and did almost nothing useful.
My current lawyer said the previous work was so poor it had to be redone completely. I would not recommend Jane Mapes or her team to anyone.

We paid over $25,000 and she Never did her job. She never did temp orders, instead of trying to get ins info from other person, she just kept charging Us for emailing her. Even when I told her the danger to the children, she refused to try to fight the home study that was obviously biased. She said we would need $3,100 to go to mediation ($900 for mediator, $2,200 for Her). Another atty showed it should've been $150! She even asked the opposing counsel for a mediator! Asked for her to reset mediation date for more time to come up w/funds at which point she suggested that since it was such a financial hardship, why not give up kids and just pay the child support, it's cheaper!!! Then, rather than own up to Her mistakes, she set court date and quit, citing "refused mediation" which was a lie. She just threw the case under the legal bus. We had only a few weeks to come up with a new attorney. She should be disbarred!If she's assigned your case, ask for refund and change firms! Worst atty!
