Aaron advised a Simple Divorce for a case with clear custody and support disputes. This was unsuccessful as the divorce was ineligible for this road to dissolution. Aaron advised me to move to my desired city 4 hour away with 2 children without the court's or other parent's consent and hope for the best, if I had taken this advice I could have lost custody. Aaron was unable to account for his ineptitude to advise with regards to domestic violence and so it was a short relationship. The next counsel I retained was appalled at the advice I'd received.

After meeting 4 other lawyers I decided to retain Mr. Aaron Mackenzie for my separation and divorce matter and glad I retained him. My matter was complex, difficult to resolve and time consuming but he was very thorough and grasp the complexity and difficulty very well. He was able to resolve all issues but more importantly out come surpassed my expectation. I was able to get full, 100%, custody of my son, very difficult to get being a father. Through out I observed that he is very thorough, detailed and prompt dealing with all matters including time sensitive one, in few instances he went extra mile to accommodate me outside of working hours for urgent matters. Due to his sound understanding of family law and working knowledge of dealing with different issues as well as preparing detailed briefs and submitting all necessary disclosures I saw that he earned respect from all judges involved in my matters. Aaron mackenzie and his team are dedicated and very professional. I counsulted several lawyers in my quest for legal advice during my divorce and settlement proceedings but 1 lawyer and his team stood out. He was knowledgeable about the law and most of all honest with me about my case. They helped me with most of the paperwork even when it was a last minute request. I was extremely happy with the service Aaron provided. He worked to get me what I wanted, opposed to trying to make me settle for something less, as my previous lawyer had done. He didn't tell me one thing in the privacy of his office and do the opposite when in the courtroom, again, as my previous lawyer had done. Over and above, I am not a 'rich' person, I am a single mother, that lives pay cheque to pay cheque to ensure my child has everything her heart desires and Aaron gladly worked with my financial situation when it came to his fees. I would definitely recommend Aaron, he helped me a lot with the horrible situation my ex put me in.

Not professional. I paid in full 1500 for a divorce but my ex lives in the USA so I was asked for 250 more for process server. After 2 months of unanswered requests back and forth to get an update as to the status of the process server, my ex moved to a different state. Was asked for 150 more then after two weeks with no status update i inquired and was told they wanted 200 more. asked for my file and money back is taking months. currently filing conduct complaint with law society and assessment with superior court of justice will cost 99$. 4 months and still no divorce. lawyer wont provide me with my full file and detailed list of supposed legal services he claims were provided. sent letter to my ex with significant errors. Wrong separation date, used my married name, indicated i offered to pay for the divorce costs, typos. Did not review my file before drafting letter and did not run it by me before sending. find yourself a different lawyer is my advice.

I cannot stress enough to NOT hire this lawyer.
Aaron advised a simple divorce when that was inappropriate given the ongoing access and child support issues. It was not completed and I was charged $1,200.00 for several rounds of poorly drafted documents mistakes ranged from typos on names and birthdates to the wrong forms. Because I did not tolerate mistakes I was treated as a nuisance by his team and Aaron never took accountability for his mistakes.
- drafted documents for a simple divorce in a hi conflict case and advised me to move out of county with my children before receiving approval from the court,advice that could have cost me custody. -neglected to notify me when documents were to be served to my ex so I could avoid having my ex served while he was with our kids on visitation. Even though Aaron knew this posed a safety risk to the children
Aaron knew I had fired a previous lawyer for incompetence and contracted this same lawyer to act on his behalf without my consent.

Was not impressed or pleased with Aaron at all. The advice he gave ended up costing me tens of thousands of dollars in the court decision as well as having to pay the other partie's costs, not to mention, the bill for his 'services'. A very expensive lesson learned.

Description: Arrogant liar. Made me lose money in the 10's of thousands. Stay away & save your money! What should have been a very straight forward divorce turned out to be more than 2 years of spending on lawyer fees! He is best at dragging out emails to make even more cash by only answering half your questions most of the time. Most of the money will be spent on emails back and forth because he either doesn't have answers, or doesn't know, or likes to drag on conversations to make himself more rich. When in person, he always leaves you wondering, instead of talking straight to you, and telling everything you need to know properly. He is sneaky, and underhanded kind of person.

Very disappointed with Mr. MacKenzie during the year and a half custody battle. Mr. MacKenzie would ask for updates of any conflict, emails, texts but he never looked at them. Mr. MacKenzie had no idea what was going on and did not care. He would only reply to part of an email and ask for documentation that was already provided to him. He was great at blaming his staff and secretary for not being on the ball. He is very good at talking in circles over the phone instead of answering your question. Mr. MacKenzie will cost you as much money as he can while doing the bare minimum work he can get away with. Represent yourself or set $20,000 on fire.

Agree with other reviewers. Fortunately, I had little interaction with this lawyer. But from my observations, he is rude and condescending and lack values. I was shocked to see his behaviour in court.

Since I had decided to represent myself in a Motion to Change and at a Settlement Conference with my ex-wife I consulted Aaron MacKenzie for advice prior to the court hearing in order to prepare. His understanding of the whole process was immediate and his comments were of utmost pertinence. Aaron worked quickly and in a very friendly way with me. He understood exactly what had to be done.The cost was precisely at the low end of what he said it would be, there were no unforeseen or extra charges at all. I felt I was fairly dealt with, without any pressure and with consideration.
