Click to report rating    8/16/18   2     2     2     1     1   Was hired to disburse a simple estate. One Check. Charged fees for a consultation that was on behalf of a third party (friend of administrator) The person was not a beneficiary or administrator or executor, but because they had power of attorney over one beneficiary they acted on behalf of themselves. No problem for them, what they did , was at no cost to them. After he was fired he still billed for time after the fact! Who does that? He was not forthcoming on the rules or regulations on how an estate is disbursed, or handled, nor on what percent the fees should be, or what our expectations should be,based on the law. Because he was a friend of the third person, he was more intent on protecting them and making sure that they got a portion of the estate. Even though, I had repeatedly asked to have all correspondence sent to me. He ignored my request and deferred to that person FIRST, all the time. Always charging for his time, yet not all communication was presented to all parties. RID: 202689
Click to report rating    6/23/16   1     1     1     1     1   Good Friend of Lisa Dewar, partner in firm that has a 1.5 rating. Found Mr. MacLean, biased, lacking on providing proper information, and evasive in answering the question. Then you would ask again, hoping to get an answer, get billed again for the same question, but the answer was still not very clear or concise. I felt that he is basically just trying to make money, and not looking out for the best interests of the beneficiary. Found out he had been sending private emails to a third party on how to collect fees on the estate, when the third party wasn't even an executor, an administrator, or beneficiary. Not impressed, big bill, no resolution! RID: 170904
