I had terrible experience with this firm and Laura Allan. There was a serious breakdown in communication between Laura, her partner and her assistant. Important basic information like court appearance dates, opposition affidavits and court order were not being forwarded. Emails and phone calls were ignored for days. Schedule meetings first thing in the morning were delayed by 30-40 minutes as Laura was not showing up. Then, she agreed to a very absurd proposal by the opposing counsel, without even informing me of such an offer. When I found out and asked her for the explanation, she didn’t respond to my calls and emails and disappeared. She makes life your life hell and disappear! I found her extremely forgetful, disorganized and dishonest!

Unfortunately, Laura was not well versed in actual law which had a significant detrimental effect on my parenting time and divorce process. Unprepared, disorganized, and oblivious to how she is received by her colleagues and clients. Wastes valuable and expensive court time looking for information she has had over a year to compile and organize. She is a mediocre speaker and is not effective when placed against experienced litigators and surprisingly lacking in knowledge and intelligence. Expected much better from a woman to understand how important getting out of that marriage was. And worse, she made me feel like I had been psychologically abused all over again. Her actions tarnished the image of lawyers as she is greedy to the core. Seriously do your homework, if there are bad complaints about a lawyer, they are probably true.

I couldn't been happier with Laura. My divorce was incredibly stressful and complex. Laura took the helm and navigated our way to a very fair settlement. She was clear, prompt and very well prepared. She's a mother which helps. I would recommend her without reservation.

I would highly recommend Laura. She has an extensive knowledge of family law, she was honest, direct and upfront and kept me informed at all times. She didn't overcharge, she took time to explain the process to me, and in the end delivered what she said was the likely outcome in my case. Laura is the worst lawyer you can ever find. Do not let her charming smile fool you, as it is so fake. She is so unorganized, unprofessional and dishonest.
Think twice if you would like to deal with her. She is always late and keep tossing you around or keep canceling your appointment. I had to meet her in office for 4-5 time, and she was always late form more than half an hour. She will intentionally delay/ignore communication response in order to waste client's time and money.

Laura was fantastic. She handled my case quickly, aggressively and with stellar results. My ex husband and I had spent almost seven years unable to come to any agreements and Laura was able to get it settled and finalized in a few short months!

Laura was my second lawyer I had who took on my case in a family law matter. She is a Mother and is able to relate to her clients concerns because of her love and concern for her own child. She was attentive, caring and strategic with my case. She gave me very good advice on the steps we should take in order to move the case forward in a positive way. She took into consideration both parents desires and ultimately what was best for the child because at the time when a interim parenting arrangement was made our child was very young.

Laura Allan replaced my original counsel who was over charging us with little to no results in an open and shut case. By the time we came to MacLean we were already $100K in and what started as a simple case had become a mess with misrepresented information and wasted court time. Laura came in with only a couple of weeks to come up to speed on the volumes of materials pertinent to our heavily evidence based case. Laura reviewed the materials and through minimal conversation was able to gather precisely where the case had been headed, what had gone wrong and how to attempt to correct the situation. She was realistic, honest and upfront - qualities hard to find in legal representation. She represented facts, but also, for the first time in our year and a half ordeal, our lived experience was represented. Laura made us feel cared for and truly represented in court.
