I hired Alan after he provided me some very good advice for free when I called . Alan was courtious and level headed and friendly to deal with. He negotiated a settlement that was fair for everyone and was not too aggressive and pushing everything to court. A good experience overall.

Do not hire this Laywer even for the most simple of family matter. He is fresh out of law school and ill prepared. Incompetent and not ambitious in the court room. Is easily intimidated by other lawyers and basically lets opposition lead the way. Is timid and easily influenced and conveys inaccurate information due to his lack of understanding. Does not respond quickly to emails and does not seem to know his way around the system whatsoever. Fails to understand your situation and fails miserable under pressure in the court room. You will save money on his hourly rate but will lose big time in the end due to his lack of knowledge and mistakes along the way. Most negative reviews are based upon those who lose in the court room and those who are scorned because they had a losing case to begin with. I am writing this review to genuinely warn people to stay clear of this junior associate and would be better off representing yourself.

One of the worst lawyers I have ever dealt with. My son was going through a separation Mr.Dugas approached my son at the court house, he could help him for a retainer of $5000.00. For that money: he mailed information to the wrong address, 3 times,filed the return mail in my sons file, without a phone call to verify the address. Emails that they said were sent were not received. When asked to provide proof of emails sent, there was no response. Anytime we questioned the lawyer there was no response. In the end, they tried to bill an additional $4000.00 saying it was Matthews fault, because he missed court dates. Which he was not called or emailed about. When they requested further payment in November 2015 with out a bill, I requested he send an itemized bill before we paid. There was no response until May 2016. They threatened to take my son to court. When I contacted the partner , the response was they do not do itemized billing. They bill on "trust". Just horrible.
