if I could rate lower than1 I would, but I can't. Terrible experience, shockingly incapable lawyer that tries to mask her lack of skill with a lack of ethics. I guess it's the only way she can make money. I wanted to be fair but right up until I fired her, she just wanted to gouge me and my ex financially. After I dumped her, my new lawyer, who unlike her was honest, was able to help me resolve everything with my ex and his lawyer. resolved everything.

Hoping others will not be as gullible as I was. All I can say is, I found this page and thought, how many self-serving posts can this woman post for herself? She lost simple court matters and is not at all respected by judges or peers from what I saw. I switched to another lawyer who actually knew what she was doing,and cannot believe that incompetent and unethical people like this woman are allowed to be lawyers. She is mean-spirited and awful and not good at all. I hope this saves someone from my mistakes.

All I can say is this lady is worth every cent. Her theory of overwhelming the opposition is totally correct. Bringing together a “dream team” for us that with there irreproachable credentials solely put this in the hands of the judge and not CFS. She was described as a pittbull in her tenacity and for good reason.I was totally left awe struck and so was council for CFS. Solely because of her we now have private guardianship of our grandson today and not with CFS and there permanent guardianship order. Worth every cent….Will forever recommend her knowing she’s going to get even better if that exists with more time in the field.

Sonja was able to finalize my divorce within short period of time, regardless that my ex wife threatened to file restriction order. I really apreciate the fact that she accepted term payments, it has been a very hard period in my life, my ex left me with all credit cards on the limit. I also apreciate the fact that she put upfront wellbeing of my child. She gave me the best support and if I'll be again in the same situation, I would not hesitate to hire her again.

Sonja and Sarah helped me when my ex would not allow me to see our daughter. She was realistic at each step and explained the downsides of going to court. My ex though refused to go to mediation so I had no choice. After the judge listened to the facts, I had my daughter for a big chunk of makeup time and now I have been seeing her regularly. We also sorted out child support as I was overpaying. Satisfied.

Her advice put me down a terrible path. I paid a lot of money to end up in a worse spot than I believe I would be in if I had taken a more collaborative approach. Try a different lawyer if you want to maintain any sort of positive relationship with you ex for the sake of your children and your own mental wellbeing.

My children are still emotionally damaged from this woman's cold hearted advice which my husband blindly followed. If there are children involved in your family matter, I would look at hiring someone other then her.

Even when provided the truth Sonja will stand before a judge and try to sell her own story. In her Orders she submits incorrect information, misrepresentations, and omits information that was ordered by a justice and pushes them through all the while ignoring the other counsel's input.

All Sonja is concerned about is billing her client and maximizing her profit. If there is an easy way to get your case resolved, she will find the longest way possible to resolve issues in order to bill you everything she possible can. And once your case is over, she will drop you instantly without doing the proposer follow up with the MEP.

Sonja worked hard and we were sucessful at our custody trial. We didn't get everything we asked for, but almost. She came to meetings and to court prepared, and knows the law about custody and procedure in Calgary. I'll recommend her to anyone going through a divorce.

The level of service I recived was poor. My divorce was forgotten about and not filed. Some property issues were not addressed, never caught and cost me even more money which I am still dealing with to this day. I was told by another lawyer they should have been caught.

I was more than happy with Sonja's handling of my divorce. She accurately told me the best and worst case scenario, and we concluded everything by attending two full days of mediation. She and her assistant return calls withing the day, and are always able to tell me what the next step was and its approximate cost.
