Matt has consistently shown outstanding professionalism and has invaluable knowledge of the law. Ultimately his strategic approach (family court is a marathon so buckle up) consists of thought, expertise, and attention to detail.
I learnt to appreciate his communication style which at first was hard to accept; Matt will read all your emails however will only respond when there is a need or if necessary – this speaks to his character and ethics of not gauging his clients for unnecessary legal fees.
Matts knowledge of the law is unparalleled, and I can truly say I trusted him to protect my most precious baby – and he did! Matt, was always well prepared for court and was able to provide details of my case down to specific dates. He can navigate complex high conflict matters with ease – it was impressive!
Matt listened to my goals and effectively communicated the legal grounds – he was always clear regarding the steps and again able to explain likelihood of success.

I am really shocked by Matt Hickey’s ‘good reviews’ as he has done absolutely nothing for me. He doesn’t show up for court when supposed or get back to you when asking him why he didn’t show up for court. This case to protect children obviously means nothing to him shown by his own actions of apparently dropping this case without warming or notice. He will be reported in the next few days to all I can report him too along with all the reviews I find on him to hopefully get his practice dealing with consequences instead of leaving clients high and dry numerous times. To the person accusing the bad reviews of lying, lol, I gave all the proof I need to report his lack of professionalism and will use it all for the consequences I will be pushing for.

Matt did everything I asked and won my case. Everything he said would happen did happen. His rates were reasonable. I read some of the other reviews on here and was really surprised. It wasn't my experience at all. I would be happy to go back to Matt.

I absolutely LOVE Matt Hickey! He was the BEST lawyer my husbands ex could have gotten for us. Because of him we got everything WE wanted and more! We now have custody of my husbands daughter and my husband went against him self represented! Thank you Matt, your pompous ass made the judges look our way and the 100k we were awarded in costs is paving the way to a brighter future then the lavish lifestyle we previously had of McDonalds and Tim Hortons. We honestly can’t thank you enough!

Matt seemed knowledgeable during our consultation, and I was happy to move forward with him. He missed our first scheduled phone call. We rescheduled and agreed how to proceed with my case. He was very quick to email regarding paying the retainer. I did pay and was ready to proceed. From then on, my emails and calls went unanswered. It has been 3 months now. I have contacted their office and apparently they have had many complaints about Matt. They are looking into returning my fees paid and hopefully another Lawyer in the firm will take my litigation case. I strongly advise against using Matt Hickey.

Matt is an amazing lawyer. I supposed that those bad reviews here are from people who lied to him and then got caught in court. Do yourself a favour..its like with a doctor. Tell the truth or else you will get advice not fitting your real problems. Matt sid what no other lawyer could. 12 years of hell in legal system and Matt finished within a year what others couldnt. As a father I have now full sole custody in a world where other lawyers told me I will never get it. Yep..in my eyes he is a superman. Maybe he will not call you back in 5 seconds after you leave a message..but he will call you..meet you..tell you real chances of achieving your goals not some fantasy.tell him the truth..treat him nice and he will fight for you like he did for me. Matt and his assistant Sarah are amazing team I will highly recommend to anyone looking for a lawyer who prepares and fights your battles. Thank you again!!!!..

Matt is a good lawyer and genuinely cares for his client's and has their best interests in mind. He is very straightforward and does not "sugarcoat" the situation, which in my opinion is a good thing. He gives you various scenarios of how your matter could proceed and provides his honest opinion about which option is best for you. He is a very nice person and makes you feel reassured about you case.

This lawyer cares nothing but getting paid. He doesn't care about the children he represents, only about how to prolong and postpone matter. I have been at times embarrassed that this man will try to get judges to order costs, even motion was lost by him. Changed lawyers, and didn't look back. I suggest you do the same.

I'm puzzled by the bad reviews given to Matt. My guess he must have won cases against the people posting those "reviews" and we see a classic case of 'sore losers' here. Matt happened to be my lawyer for many years and i have to say that he is the best lawyer you can ask for when it comes to family law.(my case). He and his assistant Sarah who is an absolutely brilliant woman make a great team. Matt has never lied or cheated or manipulated the court.His moral compass is 100% intact and working fine.I have never seen him do any of the BS others try to pin on him.If you lie to your lawyer and give him false information DO NOT BLAME LAWYER for you getting caught in court and losing. Only a MORON would do it. Matt and Sarah are nice people, dedicated and knowledgeable. Matt goes out of his way to help, is clear and open in communication and has never done me wrong. And watching him in court handling my case is like watching DaVinci at work. So if i could give him 6 stars i would.

I am thankful that my ex used this guy who professes to be be a lawyer, he ended up costing my ex the majority of her belongings by not communicating with her the emails sent , Mr Hickey neglected to ever communicate to my ex which was great for myself ! Matt Hickey is the absolute worst excuse for a lawyer !! Thank you Matt Hickey for representing my EX. Lmfao.

Matt Hickey is a rude lawyer pushing for me to accept the other sides conditions for which I will forever regret.He warned me one hour prior to court to arrive no communication before and not knowing what to expect. I can now look back and say beyond a doubt he was definetely not working in my best interest for which my child will forever suffer.I spent 20,000dollars on previous lawyer only to use legal aid and loose anything I gained plus more.This lawyer will not work for you.

This guy clearly did not care about his client. Never have I heard a JUDGE discuss in a conference how unprofessional a lawyer was in dealings like he did about this loser. This guy has no idea what he is talking about,never returned calls or emails and left his client out to dry completely-his lack of knowledge or caring is glaring.This guy should not be allowed to practice as he is clearly there to collect the paycheck and thats it.Mr.Hickey-there is an ambulance that needs chasing somewhere loser!
