We lost thousands of dollars and didn't close on a house because we hired George Schell Jr. He didn't return calls or emails and no one ever answered the phone in his office. After 3 months I personally went to his office unannounced to demand an update. Come to find out he lied about giving a "time of the essence" letter to the sellers. We should have hired a new attorney right then and there but he scheduled a closing date that week and our realtor promised we'd close. The day of closing arrived and again we had no contact from him or an amount to write a check for. Two hours before our closing meeting he emailed us saying he would no longer represent us. I wish I was making this up or exaggerating but its all 100% true. I had to call the seller's attorney's office to try to get some info but they wouldn't say anything except go to the meeting. So we went to the meeting anyway and George Sr was there and had no clue about anything that had been going on. I should sue for malpractice.

I have been in the real estate law business for more than 15 years and had work with Mr. Schell, Jr. in the past. Despite a few minor errors things went alright. However in early 2016 we retained him for a new deal and this time around he has cost has cost us thousands of dollars. My realtor warned me not to use him however I guess I am loyal to a fault. He did not return phone calls emails or have any desire to rectify the situation. He didn't even review the contracts he had a low level paralegal do it and they didn't do it correctly. Even arrive an hour late to closing and rushed to leave left early for a personal appointment. Choose your attorney wisely and take the recommendations from Realtors!

George Schell has caused a great deal of stress and expense in a real estate deal for me by not handling what was required in a timely manner. He did not return my phone calls or answer my emails for weeks, if at all. Five months after I first hired him I changed lawyers because I still did not have a closing date. My mortgage commitment expired in the meantime and had to be redone, interest rates went up. This is the second time I used him which is what took me so long to switch lawyers, I was surprised he was such a disappointment.
