A simple document that could have been dealt with in a few months turned into a year. Does not return calls, rarely answers emails and definitely does not respect deadline she promisses... a few days rapidly turns into a few months. Happy to cash in your retainer, less happy to provide the services.

I hired Alison because she gave me hope that I had a solid case, hence the 5 stars on knowledge. I did my own research, and she confirmed all of it. If I could go lower than 1, I would on everything else. 2 years is the amount of time it took for Alison to determine if my ex had representation. 2 years, and a handful of emails in response to the very many I sent to her. She even copied and pasted some of mine to send to my ex, which was one of her very few to his side. I marked several emails urgent to see if she would respond. Not a single one. I finally put in a complaint with the Law Society of Ontario. She got that and decided that I had terminated her, but never communicated with me until months later because I sent another "urgent" email. I sent an email to the managing partners, and it took them 2 months to respond as well. It seems to be a thing at this firm. I went from full confidence and hope to defeat and despair and am out $4300+. That's a lot of money for a single parent.

Her billing practices are unethical. Far better lawyers in Ottawa who bill for their work in a fair and transparent manner.

Poor follow-up on simple spousal support sign-off. NO return phone call. Admin assistant not helpful. Go elsewhere. Unacceptable service

RUN! This legal aid lawyer is horrible. She just wants the money and will not help you at all. She fails under pressure.

She is too new and not as experienced/knowledgeable as she things she is. She is just too green for the task.
