The case is still active in court and this is pre-feedback.

I deal mainly with Shawn and Emmanuel. Emmanuel is versed in court procedures and work towards deadlines for filing and serving court materials. Emmanuel took my statements and produced complete, concise and comprehensive affidavits.

Very disappointing dealing with Shawn and his team. I retained his services for a marriage contract. He under quoted me for his legal services for a very straight forward case and then overcharged for his services. Bait and switch. When asked to modify the contract to a cohabitation agreement, he advised he would have to re-write the entire agreement. Counsel for my partner said it was minor changes and offered to do it at no extra charge. Shawn decided to terminate our working relationship as a result. My interim bill was inflated for a case where both parties were in agreement. Went back and forth with him to reduce my bill. Not impressed with his work ethic for dropping a client before a transaction was complete. I would not work with him again or recommend his services.

If it were possible to give a rating of more than 5, I would. Shawn is an amazing lawyer with an excellent team working beside him. He is driven and works hard to get results for his clients. Their communication with you is in the way that best suits your needs. Response time to your emails, etc. is exceptional, usually within minutes. Bought my first car at a delearship that has a very strict no return policy/only a 5 day exchange. I bring the car home, find out I have two family members in the hospital and doctors are encouraging me to start arranging funerals. I'm about to go in some serious debt, + a new car on top of that. So I immediately request to the delearship to take the car back and keep my deposit but save me from losing thousands of dollars in financing so I can pay off the funeral costs. The dealership said I have two options 1)pay $5000+taxes on the loan 2)sell the car privately and pay the taxes. I know! Worst mistake signing up a contract with a delearship with NO returns! I contacted SMP law feeling volnurable, intimidated and anxious, and felt like my whole world was gonna end. I spoke directly with the firm manager on a Friday morning and she was very compassionate about my case. Mr. Philbert contacted the delearship and within 10 hours had me a fair deal and saved my future from severe debt.

In my personal opinion he was too busy to handle my case appropriately .I had to beg to speak with him personally, he would only let me speak with his office manager who's only interest was collecting money and defending her law firms actions. He was late for court he advised me not to not present a defence because my EX had no case... WE LOST! He tells you your case will cost MAX one amount and blames you if he goes over said amount. 95% of the work was done by underlings he had me communicate with by email only but his bills said he did all the work. It was always a mad scramble at the last minute to prepare for court. We never once went on the offence despite the fact that my EX was found to be in breach of our original agreement.
