May be extremely knowledgeable but his communication is poor. If you want to pay a lot of money to work only with his law clerks, then he may be the man for you.

Matthew Villeneuve never once commented on the poison pill offers from the opposing counsel (Brenda Barr, his old boss), but would say "what do you think about the offer". He would wait months before replying to requests for status. He kept trying to put that CSAG (Child Support Advisory Guidelines) apply in 'Offers to Settle', and when I told him I would not sign anything that even mentioned CSAG, he tried to trick me by writing "guidelines that are customarily used in divorce cases" in the next Offer to Settle. He conned me into being interrogated by the OC, his old boss, saying that it was "normal practice". Neither Villeneuve or his old (and apparently current) partner Brenda Barr, the opposing counsel told me or my ex-wife that they had been partners for 7 years. Matthew Villeneuve and Brenda Barr tag-team bilked both me and my ex-wife for 5-figure bills.... Worst lawyer you could possibly choose to represent your interests.

I have been dealing with Mr. Villeneuve for my marital split for 6 years now. There has consistently been a lack of follow-up and communication from his staff and him. Emails usually go unanswered until I reach out begging for a response or get aggressive. I work in the business world and have never seen anything even approaching this level of unprofessional behaviour. I am guessing that he has the knowledge to help, but it would seem that he just does not have the time to spend with the clients he signs on and makes commitments to. I would recommend you save yourself a lot of stress and look elsewhere for a family law attorney.

I would never recommend Matthew. I spoke more with Julie Garcia and Julie Legacy a number of times throughout my 2 year situation. Matthew is a very nice person, however he has no backbone!! At the end of the day he'll lead you to believe he really cares. the truth is, it's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Matthew was great to work with, very knowledgeable and he had a great presence in the court room. He was looking out for my best interest. I would recommend using Matthew for any family law issues
