Maria (Margie) Was FIRED from the previous law firm and has now joined the Bortolussi Law Firm. She has absolutely no knowledge of the law nor tried to understand my case at all or listen. She had her own vision, on how to handle my case without understanding or attaining the legal knowledge of the issues that it requires. She is a novice and cannot handle complex cases. She misguided me, which has cost me money and time, and has weakened my position. In family law all of these are vital. I was trapped by all the wonderful ratings of her and am puzzled by these now. Looking back, I should have paid close heed to the warnings left by other clients. Their experiences say it all. I guess I learned an expensive lesson. There must be a special place that lies in wait for practitioners such as these.

I am so lucky to have had Margie as a lawyer. I had a different lawyer before, and switched to Margie at a crucial point in my case. Margie was able to fix some of the mistakes my previous lawyer made, and got right up to speed. I ended up with a great result and I can't thank her enough. She was honest with me about my weak points of my case and made me feel confident during a time where I didn't know if I could go on with my court case. Thank you Margie

I can say only nice things about Margie. I can't speak about the experiences that others have (some commenters here seem to post more than once). I found Margie helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. She helped me through a difficult time in my life and I got the result that I was told that I would get. I would and have recommended her to other people.

Worked with Margie before she was fired/left Gelman. She’s terrible. She constantly had ew clerks, it took her weeks to get back to my calls and emails. She lacks what seemed to be basic knowledge of law. I would NOT use this lawyer for anything!

Margie took the time to listen to what I wanted from my divorce. She was a wonderful sounding board. Honest and frank about addressing every issue of my separation agreement. I didn’t get everything I wanted (nobody does!), but I did quite well. Thanks Margie!

Useless and weak. Not knowledgeable about the law. Cannot think on her feet. Defensive when questioned as to strategy (hint: has no strategy). Sloppy about documentation. Critical documents not obtained and leaves the financial preparation in the hands of others. Defers to senior lawyer from opposite party. In a six month period did not generate any ideas. When questioned, she was fuzzy about the main facts of the case. Did not represent my case in meetings. Felt completely alone in this process. Waste of time and money. Going to cost me a lot of money to fix her incompetence. Up to you if you want to be her next meal ticket. Really wonder how she got through law school...They must take anybody.

Margie truly cared about my matter and really went above and beyond. She billed very fairly and it was very obvious she has a great work ethic. She helped me through the most difficult time of my life with so much compassion and understanding.

I found Margie to be very honest and knowledgeable but most importantly, actually cares. She is very cometent and determined to do the best on my behalf. She always makes sure I understand fully as to what is going on with my case. Knowing Margie is working hard for me really brings the stress level down. No one sets out to get divorced, I had no idea all that was involved. Margie made it quick and simple. I found her to be very competent and knowledge and most importantly honest. She went out of her way to help me set up and understand and finalize my separation agreement. She made sure to research my case and make the best decision based on the facts on how to proceed. I walked into her office shaking like a leaf I left feeling relieved.

A RUDE CASH COW! She totally misguided me and has no knowledge whatsoever! Told me that I would not have to pay towards my daughter's post graduate degree, which is untrue. Told me that appealing a domestic police record whereby a charge was not laid was the job of a criminal lawyer. I consulted with many lawyers and duty counsel at the courthouse the next day and discovered just how misleading all her information was. Then immediately after I took my file to her, she started the billing clock and sent out 2 useless rude emails to me regarding the contents of my file and requests. She didn't even know that she was supposed to obtain the file contents herself from my previous lawyer and in a rude email told me that the correspondence between counsels was missing. Billed me $145 for an initial consultation and another $373+ for opening the file, two emails, review of contents and closing the file. Wasted nearly $500.00 but got out ASAP. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE! SHE IS A MEAN CROOK!

To the extent that the experience can be a good one when you're getting divorced, working with Margie was a pleasure. Margie impressed me with her knowledge and frankness.
