Said he could get me SO much more than I was being offered. But something seemed off so I had a consult with a top Ontario lawyer, she said I'm not getting more than they offered. Rod wanted $2k upfront, total 8-10k in legal fee's. Go elsewhere!

Easily the worst experience I've had with any lawyer.
General attitude is that I'm doing him a favor by working with him
Communication was terrible - 0 communication for a week leading up to my closing, no response to multiple follow-ups emails, texts, and calls marked URGENT
Due to the missed week of no work on the file, issues that should have been caught early caused us to miss our closing.
Consistently late for every meeting and missed deadlines with no apology, just shifting blame when addressed
Corporate clerk couldn't answer basic questions regarding family trust
Major material errors made in setting up various corporate documents despite accurate documented directions
Took an angry and threatening tone when the issues with punctuality, communication, and accuracy of work were brought up. Shifted blame, refused to acknowledge any of it
Threatened to take legal action (libel and slander) if I were to publicize my experience as I am here
Avoid at all costs

Hi turn over of staff, talks a good game but never delivers, waste of time, money and effort on my part.They Lost part of my file. The only time he calls you back is when you threaten him with your calling the bar to file a complaint. Only this time I will.He is supposed to give you an annual report of money spent and on what. Took the money cash, and no reporting. grounds right there.

Wish I had never gone to this lawyer. He claimed to know what he was talking about, but my next lawyer told me what he advised me was completely outdated. He clearly is all talk.

Very unprofessional in the beginning to get my money they were very nice..I realized it how bad they were in the court first of all he didn't show up himself and he sent two students and they weren't prepared and they didn't know why they were there for!! and they were practicing the case same day ...if I want to say is going to take an while how bad they were. Definitely I'm going to complain to law society

Rod has been our go-to lawyer for everything from personal legal advice to real estate deals (we've used him 3 times for home sales) and we've always been so impressed with how quickly he gets back to us. He always makes himself available when we really need him, and we know we can trust his advice. Recently, he's been helping me with advice on my small business and I feel secure knowing I have Rod on my side. Highly recommend.

Rod and his staff are professional, courteous, and attentive. Rod goes above and beyond by offering the convenience of after hours appointments at the client's home or office for the signing of documents. They offer very competitive rates as well. After using Refcio & Associates for my real estate transaction, I asked about his fee for a Will Kit (and Power of Attorney) for my parents. Turns out that he offered the best price that I could find (all prices posted on his website!). Again, the service was professional, timely and offered great value. Both my parents and now I have completed our wills/POAs through his law firm. Wonderful staff, too. Highly recommend for quality service at very reasonable prices.

I hired Rod- paid his entire retainer in full against a case concerning my ex husband. He knows NOTHING about confidentiality, ethics, or family law. He talks a big game- with NO results except money in his pocket.I showed him my case, he said it was a no brainer, said I would clearly win, yet only spoke to my ex who can lie through his teeth, and Rod believed him. It took MONTHS of asking if he done anything, and I was FRUSTRATED TO DEATH! This man is the WORST lawyer EVER. I would NEVER IN MY LIFE recommend him. He essentially just spoke and gave MY personal information that is NON of my ex's business to him! I NEVER got the money owed to me by my Ex, NEVER got MY questions asked from Rod,even though he said I should ask. NEVER USE THIS LAWYER!! He is a crook, and makes ALL lawyers look bad.It came to the point where I was frustrated to death by his incompetence, then Rod banned me from coming to his office!! WORST LAWYER EVER!

Rod has always been attentive and helpful. He's been my counsel on various issues. Sometimes he may not respond right away, that's not because he didn't care or didn't notice. All the lawyers have a busy schedule and sometimes the issues may not demand an immediate response over others. I think it's unrealistic to expect a professional to be available 24/7 at your convenience. As a client myself, I trust him with my case and in times of urgency he's always there, not counting every phone call or every visit I truly need. I reply on his ability to prioritize and execute and he has not disappointed.

DO NOT use for Sale/Purchase of a home! They do not communicate with you or the lawyer acting on the other end of the transaction. They don't send out documents or answer phone calls, we have never received original documents needed, and when you do get a hold of someone they are absolutely rude and unprofessional. Not worth the "deal" you get, will never use again!

OMG My family has been trying to close the sale of the family home to my son and his wife for months now. I have had to come to London from North Bay (an 11 hr return drive) 3 times. Rod even scheduled a pre-apt. 2 wks ago. He never once told us what the apt. was for. We knew that the bank did not have all the paperwork to his firm, so WE canc.this apt. on our own. No phone call, nothing to say where we are at!! When to meet again, nothing from his firm!! Wow, So my kids called again after the bank had sent them the paperwork and the hundreds of thousands to close the deal. OMG another week delay. I am sic at this point of the drive, so I had to hire a lawyer up north, hoping that they were able to send my part up here. They did last Thursday and I was able to sign on my end. Mr. Orlando, North Bay, and his amazing team were able to help me 3 day's after my first call to them. So this is done. Well not good enough. MORE bs STALL PAPERWORK on their end!!! Still not CLOSED!!!

Met Rod for his 'free consultation' and paid his retainer for some work to be done. As it turned out the seller was also Rod's client. I advised Rod I was not certain I would use him as he was representing both parties. Upon requesting a refund as I did in fact use a different lawyer...it took many many requests for a refund. The refund was shorted for unknown or approved work. Rod was very unprofessional in ignoring my communications and unethical in my mind for withholding my funds for such a long period of time without any replies.

Where to start....well, he began with a small lawsuit that he was able to settle out of court, so we stuck with him for our business. It turns out that's where any help, knowledge, etc. ended. He amended our articles and it took 1 year for it to happen. We had countless stories about how the courts have lost our documents, things were held up like paperwork does, etc, etc, it turns out in the end he lost the paperwork and never submitted it. Once we found this out it took him 2 hours to complete it with the court. Ridiculous. There are many other silly stories like that, but through the grapevine we have learned that he has moved, over a year ago, joined another law firm and never informed us! This guy is a total joke, has not one professional bone in his body and way over charges. Run, fast, if you ever encounter this man.
