I fired this lawyer after several instances of him ignoring my questions/comments, not following my directions, and drafting clauses that would benefit the other party to my detriment. There was no legal reasoning behind him drafting it this way; he seemingly didn’t recognize the implications of what he had written, and it’s lucky that I caught the error. All of this necessitated extra back-and-forth that in turn cost me extra money.

Nick was a truly fantastic lawyer! Right from the start he explained to me the process and potential obligations I could be facing in my divorce. Through his hard work and quick turnaround of items, I not only settled and was divorced in a matter of months, but at a fraction of my probable scenario. I always felt in great hands and would HIGHLY recommend.

He made some serious errors on my file when he was my lawyer. He seems to never respond when you need him the most. He will continually charge you as he drags out the same issue on and on. Finally I made the right decision retaining new counsel that resolved my legal battle at a fraction of what he charged to achieve nothing at all.

Unresponsive and unprofessional are two words to best describe this lawyer. Stay away, I had to fire him after paying him thousands. He’s only in it for himself and has trouble providing coherent advice. My poor children are now suffering.

I fired this guy during my 2 year divorce case. He was great at the outset but became the opposite in my case. He dragged things out way too much.

Strategic, smart, and thorough. Nicholas was my lawyer for many years and helped me navigate a difficult and lengthy divorce and custody dispute. He won every single time we had to bring something to court. He is busy, so at times I had to wait for a response to an email or call, but he stayed on top of everything. What I found most outstanding was his ability to develop a solid strategy and cover all the bases to ensure I get the results I needed. He was able to foresee many issues down the road and I was glad he had set me up for success throughout the entire process. He always explained every process thoroughly and protected my interests. In response to reviews about his ego, I believe some clients mistake his passion for the best possible outcome for his clients for his ego. He knows family law inside and out.

Unprofessional, explosive temper, and as previous reviews state he lets his ego get in the way of business. After many months my case is still not settled and I'm beginning to resent my friend that referred me to this awful lawyer. I've heard he has troubles keeping his own personal affairs in order, which is ironic given he's in family law. Give this lawyer a miss, his low ratings are accurate IMO.

I wish to acknowledge the professionalism, and support I received from Nicholas Van Duyvenbode from RCMV Family Law Lawyers. I found being caught up in family law matters to be a very stressful and confusing time. Nicholas was there to educate and advise me each step of the way through my separation. I had a great experience with Nick during a terrible time. He has an excellent understanding of the process, proceedings and the court system which he was able to utilize to help our outcome. My divorce was what I would consider complicated and I would hate to think of the outcome without his help. Added bonus he was able to redo my will after which was a nice touch. Thank you Nick!

I had been struggling with my file doing it myself after my last lawyer ran up my bill with not much done. Nick got my child support finalized, my spousal support reduced and finally my property division and divorce (after years of waiting for this) done! I cannot recommend him more. He gets things done!!!

This lawyer could not handle my case at all, and his lack of experience was very apparent. I finally had to go to a more senior lawyer to get everything straightened out. A waste of time and money.

I had an excellent experience with this lawyer. He worked hard to ensure that I was properly represented. He was very honest and direct with me while explaining the process and preparing me for what was going to happen. I would definitely recommend him for people in need.

If Nick is fighting against you, he's perfect. I showed up for a simple problem with the other side, and Nick completely tried to change what was actually happening. I guess you get what you pay for. I got exactly what I wanted, and decided to not use a lawyer. I hope the other party is keeping him on, I'd show up without a lawyer with confidence if the other party is using this guy!

Nick was very responsive to my needs and it was a complicated case. I was very grateful for his reassurance through the entire ordeal, as I was not at my best. With respect to value, his rates were more reasonable than my previous lawyer who charged a fortune for emails. I thank him for taking my case and for the favourable outcome. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Nick was great. From the very start he had a game plan and was always on top of moving things forward and communicating what the next steps were to me. I really, really appreciated this as getting divorced was such a painful process. When ever I emailed him, he was quick to respond, if we had to go to court he was ready and great there, and he worked hard with the other lawyer to finalize a deal in the end for me. All in all, I couldn't recommend him more highly.

Nick was still a student when he began working for us, and it gave us great pleasure to see him attain fully-fledged lawyer status during the case. I cannot recommend him too highly. While always professional, he seemed more like a friend during the process than somebody that we hired and was always sincere and genuine. Advice given was always honest and solid.
