At first I really liked her. Easy going. Her support staff is unresponsive and so is she. This firm charges for literally everything, every call every email every print job etc with no exception. She doesn't try to find cost effective ways to help and works as though money is unlimited. She will offer another lawyer in firm to complete paperwork at a lower rate but then she reviews it and charges as well so instead you are getting double charged. I reached the end of my case and she didn't file the appropriate paperwork costing me more than $3000 in addition to what she had already charged me. Because of her error, I am stuck in a loop with the courts. I wrote to her twice and she has ignored me. Once in a while she will throw breadcrumbs and relieve you of unfair charges. Terrible experience. She couldn't make a court date, sent another lawyer then charged me for the paperwork . I wouldn't have given this rating if she tried to remedy the loop im stuck in. She chooses to ignore me.

Not recommended. Novalea will encourage you to engage in conflict and when everything blows up, you will never hear from her. She spent $300k of my money and custody and went to the father after 8 years! Money grubbing lawyer that brags she raised 4 children.

Terrible lawyer. Stay AWAY!!! Will waste lots of time and bill you for it. Disorganized, argumentative, frustrating, and completely unable to negotiate or settle. Cannot stick to facts; makes them up Deliberately prolongs case to increase her billing. STAY AWAY!!

Novalea is a very knowledgeable family law lawyer. Gave me great legal advice that made dealing with my ex spouse much easier. She is a very child focused negotiator and helped me understand the value of compromise. Both she and her staff made going to court a far less stressful experience. Reasonably priced, considering she is located in Oakville. I would definitely recommend her service.

Ms. Jarvis represented me in a very difficult divorce and child support case. Her knowledge of family law is extensive and she is a very sincere and authentic person. She did not "sugar coat" my prospects, but told me honestly what she believed my chances were of succeeding if the matter went to court. She took the time to explain the court process thoroughly in terms that I could understand and seemed very well organized throughout the case. She spoke very well in court during the case conference and the numerous motions brought by the other side which the judge agreed were "vexatious". I am completely satisfied with the outcome of my case. Because of her diligence, attention to detail, knowledge of case law and mediation skills, I received child support arrears in full and an amicable settlement for the future without having to go to trial. This saved me substantial money, the stress of testifying, and the time I would've had to take off work. I wholeheartedly recommend her!

Really screwed me royally in terms of cost, lost time, etc. Don't need to say much more. Valuable lesson(s) learned: Don't bring a child/sibling in with you, she will talk to them and bill you. Files went missing. Charges for uncompleted tasks. Erroneous statements. Gift of gab brings her extra $. BE CAREFUL. Choose wisely. Interview atleast three. Gut instinct may not necessarily be right. Look for how expedient they are; if they tell you to avoid court at all costs, that's a good sign as it is the most expensive of all. Don't feel pressured. Make a very carefully thought out decision before signing the dotted line!
