Attorney Nancy M. Doctor is irresponsible and unprofessional; the lawyer is experienced.
After we (University of California at Berkeley student Renters Group) prevailed in a case against a local slumlord in 1992 - 1993, the DEFENDANT appealed the judgment to Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland (roughly our twelfth successful case against repeat-offender DEFENDANT).
Upholding the judgment, the Superior Court referred the case back to Municipal Court for remedial action or stipulations in our favor, which were designed and agreed to by the DEFENDANT and Court, but which he then refused to install!
Now, once we returned to Municipal Court, instead of finding the DEFENDANT in contempt of its own court, Berkeley Municipal Court essentially “let it slide,” obviously deep into the pockets of wealthy slumlord DEFENDANT.
Our Legal Aid-paid attorney, Ms. Doctor, instead of following up the righteous fight on our behalf, requested of the judge to withdraw from the case! She then wasted
