Incredibly ignorant. I had to tell her everything at least 3 times, and then she would still misrepresent me. Cost me thousands of dollars that I didn't have and only made my situation worse. Showed very little interest in understanding how to help me. Very antagonistic.

Horrendous lawyer. Caused me nothing but grief in an already overwhelming situation. The only thing she lightened was my wallet. She can't be bothered with anything that won't easily make her lots of money. She will not spend time with you to understand your situation/goals, translate 'legalese', or break down options for you. She will rather confuse the situation for you and then do whatever she needs to make more money. She thrives off of her clients' distress. Carolyn Allan works for herself only, and will make your life difficult if it means she can get you to pay her more while she does less work.

Through a difficult time in my life Carolyn was able to help me. She gets to the point and is fair. In my case my ex was being unreasonable was able to show the courts this was the case. I appreciate everything Carolyn did for me thank you!

It is with great pleasure and privilege that I share my personal experience in having received legal representation from Carolyn Allan. I will begin by sharing that Carolyn was referred by the President of the Alberta Bar Association. My legal battles extend just shy of 10 years. The level of litigation I experience; few have experienced. There were many dark days. Carolyn thwarted, virtually overnight, the constant litigation from O.C. Had it not been for the decisive, clear thinking that Carolyn practices, I would not be able to look in the face of my daughter with a smile and imagine that everything is going to be ‘ok’. I believe you get what you pay for, but in my experience with Carolyn, I have received so much more. Terrible family lawyer. Instead of following the statement on her website "to assist her clients in looking past the bitterness that may exist between them and their ex-partner", she causes more turmoil between them. She should not be in family law.

Carolyn was truly amazing to deal with! She took my case (over 5 years of high conflict history) on with less than 5 weeks to go before a hearing date. She worked hard to accommodate my budget, and offered limited scope representation. I self-represented in my hearing and Carolyn was behind me every step of the way. She made sure I knew my deadlines, she drafted my documents, offered advice in a timely manner, and supported my choices. Carolyn has a strong, confident, articulate, and personable manner. She offers realistic and straight forward advise. Carolyn has continued to respond to emails, provide advice and legal guidance beyond our contract date and after my hearing. She honoured our retainer agreement until my matter was settled, despite setbacks. Carolyn is honest, passionate, personable, and incredibly valuable! My girlfriend is 6 years into a divorce that will likely never end. Her ex-husband never wins in courts technically but always buries her in legal bills and she can never collect on the cost she's awarded because he's self-employed so it's a never-ending losing battle. Carolyn was completely open and honest about what she could accomplish and at what cost. She was very blunt how it was throwing good money after bad to waste more money on lawyers including herself. She charged minimal fees compared to the other quotes we had and kept all actions to minimum duration to minimize the cost. When my girlfriend's ex husband's shark lawyer kept piling more things on she stuck with us and killed his applications at largely no cost. Lawyers are in a business and it's completely unrealistic to expect them to work an hour that they are not paid for. I've been through my own divorce and they don't come cheap and Carolyn is easily the most fair and realistic lawyer I've come across.

Carolyn helped me in my very ugly divorce about 4 years ago. I have recommended her to a number of friends and work colleagues. A friend of mine recently asked me if I had seen this website. I hadn't but now that I have feel I have to comment. Carolyn worked hard with me to focus on what my kids needed and not on how I was hurt by my ex. It was not easy but in the end my ex and I settled on a fair division of our assets and most importantly I can now say that we are parenting really well together and our kids seem to be doing really well. Carolyn was not cheap but in my experience you get what you pay for. I will continue to recommend Carolyn to anyone who asks for a good, honest lawyer.

Carolyn's only concern is with maximizing billable hours, which is why her office is so nice (not because she is a good lawyer). She uses her silver tongue to promise the moon and get your retainer payment, then immediately thereafter uses confusion, hyperbole, and distraction to make mountains out of molehills in order to charge you more. Even positive reviews on this page talk about how drawn out the cases were. In my case, after Carolyn bled me dry of all my money but did nothing to help me over 6 painful months, I switched to legal aid whereby a great lawyer at no cost to me (because of my poor financial situation) resolved the matter within a week. While I'm pleased to know some lawyers genuinely do their best to help their clients, Carolyn is not one of them. Use another lawyer and save yourself a lot of time, stress, and money.

Carolyn Allan is excellent, outstanding and absolutely the most amazing lawyer. She represented me in an extremely challenging case that lasted for three years. Carolyn was always honest, fair, calm when situations heated up, supportive, blunt and to the point regarding all legal issues and proceedings. She offered great insight and alternatives to many challenging situations. Carolyn protected not only myself, but my children and my financial interests. Tenacious and a Tiger in the courtroom. She never lost a single case we brought before the Judges in the whole three years she represented me. "Don't worry! I've got your back!" she would say to me - she never let me down! I trusted Carolyn's expertise, wisdom and judgement in every situation I presented to her. Her integrity and commitment to her clients and adherence to ethics and Code of Conduct goes above and beyond- never wavered. She is deserving of the utmost respect and admiration, a lawyer of the highest calibre.

I can't say enough good things about Carolyn Allan. I had been struggling for many years through a tough divorce with another lawyer who since then recommended Carolyn to me. Carolyn took control and within a year she has finalized my divorce and agreement papers are signed. Awesome! Carolyn deserves a gold medal for that! Along the way she really listened to me, gave me direction and advise and answered all my questions in a pleasant and timely manner...and a few times even emailed me after hours so I wouldn't be stressing about a matter. I found Carolyn's billing to be more than fair and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone. Carolyn has strong work ethics and family values and a huge heart! Thank you Carolyn!!

I would have been better self represented. Talks fast and a lot when it come to action she is zero. This lawyer charged me lots $$$$$ for nothing.I would NEVER recommend this lawyer to anyone, I advice everyone to stay away from this lawyer.She charges per minute no matter who does the work. Actually she moved my case backward.
