I hired Barbara Barclay Moore because my ex- refused to help pay for college. NJ law says the non-custodial parent does have responsibility to pay. She said the process should take about 6 months.
I heard nothing for 2 months after paying a $5,000 retainer. I finally called and was sent a case information statement to complete. It took 6 months to finally get the first letter sent to my ex- saying that I had representation. The first draft had spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Yes, that should have been enough for me to switch, but I didn't know who else to use.
18 months and $1,500 later, 3 letters had been sent, and we were no where near close to being done. I met someone who also used and was unhappy with Barbara Barclay Moore. I switched attorneys.
My new attorney said that my ex- may not be responsible for paying for the 1st 2 years of my daughter's college because BBM had never filed anything with the courts. I strongly advise against using her.
