I fired Jan Fishman. It was a big mistake! He negotiated a settlement of my LTD claim that I thought was too low. I went with another lawyer who said he'd do a trial. After about a year we settled for about 1/2 of what they first offered. The insurance company even said that they wouldn't pay my costs because I made them spend money on the defence lawyer.

After 3 other lawyers wouldn't take my long term disability case, Mr. Fishman agreed to help me. Even though there were problems, he got me a very fair settlement.

Unprepared, not true to his word, cunning and takes advantage if you are at a disadvantage. Not loyal and tries to low ball you for a quick settlement to recover his fee. Does not provide the service for the fee he charges.

Jan Fishman is very knowledgeable, hard-working and a good communicator. He analyses legal problems early and effectively, comes up with a plan how to proceed, and makes sure that his clients are kept "in-the-know" every step along the way. His inside knowledge of insurance company is a huge asset in getting insurers to make a reasonable offer.
