He is arrogant and condescending frequently but then tries to redeem with charm. Missed hearing, left out material facts. Lacked preparation. Mostly poor with moments of actual representation. Overcharged for boiler plate documents that were from other cases not filled out accurately. Lazy. Tired of dealing with divorced people it seems.

Kind of a bully with my sister & her divorce. Could be rude and condescending- same w his staff. Office shoddy- cheap. "Flat rate" pricing is deceiving & requires accurate forecasting. No need to be short or ill-manored with any person- lifes tough enough. We were & remain dissappointed w level of engagement and expertise. Did our due diligence but chose wrong attorney- hard to get real info on them before you hire- then changing is time consuming. He does not care, in my opinion- rude man.

Let this letter serve as notice that I am discontinuing my service with Kinney Law. I’m very dissatisfied with the service that was provided to me. I have only spoken with you twice, John. Once at our initial consultation which I paid $150 and the other was at the temporary custody hearing. You screen my calls and do not answer my e-mails. It’s the 21st century, I can provide proof of these accusations. I’ve spent $4,000; and what have you done to get me to see my child or to get my divorce processed? Google has been more of a help than you or anyone in your office to navigate this process.
You have failed at the task in which I hired you for, which was to represent me.

John Kinney simply wants to make a ton of money and little work for you. His fees are outrageous. I sank over $15,000 into a custody case with him. We ended up with joint custody and my children remained in an abusive situation. I retained a different attorney and within one month and $2,500 I had full custody of my children. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from John Kinney as you can. All he did for a solid year was file "motions to continue" with my case, and drug it out just to get more money. Divorce and child custody can be the most stressful think you will ever go through. YOu need an attorney who is your advocate, not an attorney who just wants to take you for thousands of dollars!

He has been very slow to repond to our questions. He should up to my four way meeting completly un prepard and attempted to proof our parenting plan in front of me. fuethermore, he continually stallws our case an it cost my our party over 85,000.00 in lost property settelment.

I found John to have a thorough understanding of the nuances of Nebraska divorce law and be able to communicate likely scenarios, as well is best and worst case situations.
In negotiations I found John to be reasonable and realistic, knowing where and when to stand firm on a position.
I have talked with people who hesitate calling their attorney with a question because of fears of running up bills with every call. I found John's rating structure to be fair, and more importantly, to encourage clients to call with questions.
John’s schedule does not always allow him to answer or respond to calls immediately. However, John or someone on his staff would acknowledge my communications almost immediately, and get me thoughtful answers in a timely manner.
Even the smoothest divorce can be stressful. I felt better having John and his staff as my advocates. They encouraged communication, helped me understand the process and likely outcomes, and held fast to my best interest.

I hate that I had to hire a divorce attorney, however, I couldn't be happier to have found John. He and his staff are wonderful. They are very helpful, very knowledgeable and very kind. He worked hard for me and his fees were an incredible value for what I got from him and his team. I switched to him much more than half way through my divorce. He not only worked very hard to get caught up on the previous 18 months that my ex and her attorney had spent dragging our divorce through the court system, but he worked diligently to fight my battle! He knows the law, he knows his business and he understands the court system. He doesn't waste valuable time on petty things that don't matter (even if your emotions want them to) yet he can help to support you emotionally and make some sense of it all. He represents his clients fiercely and I highly recommend John and his staff!

This is the most condescending lawyer I have ever met with. If you are a woman stay away! I had an initial consultation with him and asked him the same question more then once. He arrogantly told me that he is the lawyer and I should repeat a question. Then he got up and said "you know what this is not going to work, I don't want to represent you." So in other words, if you dare to question his knowledge (especially in an intial interview) he does not want your case. Oh the arrogance!

When you find yourself in a situaton where you need a lawyer. The biggest decisions you can make is who is going to sit next you and protect your interests. John is the guy you want in your corner. He is an extremely talented person. Our case was an emotional one. . . John and his staff were simply oustanding! (Marie is a saint!!)The flat fee structure was also very helpful. We knew what our expenses were up front.

Came very highly recommended from my business attorney. Professional and direct. Let me know up front what to expect and was very supportive during my divorce process. Have recommended him to more than one friend going through a divorce; everyone I know that used him for a legal matter was very happy with his service and the results. His price was midrange for the Omaha market but he certainly could charge more and would still be an outstanding value.

John and his staff handled my divorce case very professionally, always keeping my best interests in mind. I was impressed with the way they handled business with my ex as she became difficult to deal with in the late stages of my case. I also liked their fixed fee structure which meant there were no extra charges at the end of my case. I highly recommend them to anyone.

John has represented me well for several years. I had a few lawyers prior to John who did not even bother to present my case. The results I have had have still been bad but at least my side is represented. I believe the system is built to create conflict and keep lawyers employed. There is no Justice at the Omaha court house. The best answer is not to go to court.

John Kinney represented me in a custody issue. He rarely would return phone calls, and I ended up financially devastated from the fees John Kinney charged. It seemed as if he was more interested in collecting fees than helping me. I'm assuming he needed the money for all of the expensive TV commercials he purchased. Do your homework before you retain Mr. Kinney!

I would highly recommend John Kinney to anyone going through a divorce. When I found out my husband was cheating I was furious and wanted to file for divorce right away. John helped me to calm down and prepared me for what was going to happen over the next few months. John Kinney was the voice of reason for me during the divorce process, he was knowledgeable and experienced, and made sure that the divorce was handled right from the beginning.

My husband wouldn't get a job or pay the mortgage. Mr. Kinney didn't force him to get a job, but a judge to order him out of the house and got an order to split the bills. Kinney worked hard and had no hesitation in going to court to get the job done.

I am still making $800 per month payments to John Kinney after he charged me over $15,000.00 and in my opinion accomplished nothing! He absolutely did not have me or my children's best interest in mind. He was all about how much money he could bill! I wish I would have done my homework before I hired John Kinney. If I had it to do again, I certainly would not.

John Kinney was the best attorney I could have asked for when I was going through my divorce. He was not only knowledgable, but he was very patient and understanding. Anytime I needed to discuss something with him, he made himself available. I have recommended him to several people that I know who have needed or might need a lawyer. Mr. Kinney represented me in a child support / visitation moodification. I have joint custody. He initially quoted me $4,000 "if" my case went to trial. It ended up costing me $15,000 - I have my children 45% of the time - I pay my ex-husband $600.00 per month in chid support, I pay all health insurance on my kids, I pay/provide all transportation. Not only did John Kinney botch my case - I am a single mom and he now sued me for his fees. I offered to pay him $200.00 he turned that down. Not only did he garnish my wages, he garnished my bank account (I could not pay rent) and he also garnish $467.00 out of my 15 year old son's account (which my name was on)!!! My son worked all summer to make that money. John Kinney being the upstanding man he is took my 15 year old's money. He is not only a bad lawyer - he is a heartless person!
