I retained Matthew as my divorce lawyer and after a year of preparing for a trial (in which I was encouraged to do) and $35k later, I was unable to pay another retainer for trial of $20k therefore Mr.Cooper walked away from my case leaving me with 2 large file boxes and no choice but to go through a trial pro se. The effects of this action were devastating and I will suffer the repercussions from this for the next 15 years. Before trial I attempted to try arbitration and gave Mr. Cooper a cash payment of over $3k and during that arbitration, he changed the direction in which he had been counseling me for over the past year and encouraged me to just go with whatever the offer was. I have worked with many attorneys over the years and I have never encountered one who would abandon their client within weeks of a trial.
