First, my review of James Roscoe Tanner (Tampa, Florida) is based solely upon an initial phone consultation with him in either late May or early June 2014. He was rude and arrogant, and sounded as if he were intoxicated, but I'm sure he was just tired (I spoke with him in the late afternoon, I believe). My situation involves a civil matter against local law enforcement (particularly the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office). Mr. Tanner told me there are two sheriffs in his family, but didn't elaborate. Whether it's true or not, it was an odd thing for an civil rights attorney, representing victims of police misconduct, to say to a possible client. He said "At least you weren't beaten up" or similar words - twice. He also said that this area "isn't California" (that it is a much more conservative area) and went on about a "Facebook community," both comments related to my situation). In a word, my conversation with Mr. Tanner was strange. I do not recommend him.
