On March 28. 2015, my wife, a Vendor at the ****o Island Flea Market was intimidated by a Security Guard. She was ordered to refund a customer's money, or 'get out of the Flea Market'.. The customer had shouted obscenities at her, and it was my wife -- not the customer -- who had called security. The guard responded in this way --- quickly siding with the customer -- without the slightest hesitation, and without any questions as the cause of the disturbance. My wife is Chinese, and this was a clear case of discrimination. I have no doubt that these things would not have occurred had I been present. In court, Judge Hayes ruled in favor of the Flea Market. In the case before ours, a Landlord refused to make any repairs for a black family at any time for the 5 years his house was rented to them. At the end of the lease, he refused to return their deposit, claiming they had left the house in disrepair. Judge Hayes ruled in the Landlord's favor.
