I should have researched more thoroughly! My case was transferred from another source...I took it on face value, so shame on me. Communication is not Mr. Niermann's strong suit - nor the individuals representing him in his office. They were "MIA" or on "radio silence" over 98% of the time - didn't respond to e-mails or phone calls. I went long stretches with no communication what so ever from him or his representatives. The few times we did speak, he had to ask my name and what was my case about. I'm convinced he never read the specifics of my case - especially the medical aspects. As a client, it was dehumanizing and signaled to me that I was of little to no value on his scale of importance. This added to my existing stress and created more angst. Rule #1 in an attorney client relationship: the client needs to be transparent and forthright..and lawyer needs to communicate. I did my part, he did not. Terribly disappointing experience.

I hired Mr. Niermann in 2009 regarding a fall I had while working as a Visiting Nurse. For whatever reason he refused to take my case before an Arbitrator. While I had many court dates, they ALL were cancelled shortly prior to the appearance. My husband is disabled from a brain tumor and I am the primary support. We lost everything and ended up moving to Tennessee and are currently living in a trailer. At one point we were given a court date, came to Chicago and when Mr. Niermann saw us he asked "What are you doing here?". Again, we did not go in front of the Arbitrator. Finally, in 2013, out of necessity, we took a small settlement. Mr. Niermann told me that if we went to court and the case was appealed it would take me years to settle. He also stated that Arbitrator Black was severely behind in his cases and we might not received a good outcome. When my settlement check did come, Mr. Niermann's office held it for approximately 2 weeks. I would not recommend Mr. Niermann to others.
