This attorney is now a district court judge. But when he was my court-appointed attorney, he was driven to get a good plea deal instead of fighting for my rights and preparing for a jury trial. With his current position, it's obvious he never wanted to be a good criminal defense lawyer. In 2006, he advised I plea guilty to a crime that I later proved, after years in prison, was not a crime - possession of a legal adult video, that was charged and pleaded as child porn. In Grand Traverse County, the justice system works only for the officials administering it, not the defendants caught up in it. He also did not return all of my "defense" evidence case file and documents regarding my accuser's behavior went missing - documents provided by my private investigator. My opinion is he should be disbarred for ethics violations and ineffective assistance.
