Real estate attorneys must be able to read and understand all real estate transactions. Mr. Teeples was hired to ask the bank to allow the parcels to be sold separately, and to get agreement to a short sale. He made several mistakes, and no usable work product. He drafted a letter containing all erroneous information – including loan dates, employment status, etc., after several conversations and emails that included the correct information. He billed several hundred dollars for purported research regarding what to put in the letter - the DAY AFTER billing for writing the letter. He could not read a mortgage document to see whether one or two parcels were listed (which they clearly were), and could not read two deed transfer documents dated 5 years apart to understand they were two separate, adjacent parcels. He drafted another letter, without direction, that said basically ‘please deal fairly,’ and again, did not do what we’d asked him to do.
