Sheryl is an amazing attorney. We had court recently and I feel like a small sense of justice and stability has finally been given to me. I am very fortunate to have found her as my attorney and represent me. Her staff is great, very personable and friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for an incredible Family Law Attorney!

Mrs. McDonnell is the best! She has been very aggressive when needed and when appropriate. She has listened to my concerns and needs as the client, and be diligent in looking out for my best interests as my attorney. I can't say enough because I was in a major custody battle and she prevailed for me and my son! I can't thank her enough and spread the good word about her and her level of knowledge and expertise in family law regarding divorce and custody situations. It just flows and comes naturally for her! She is very experienced when it comes to family law! I don't believe I would be where I am today without her!

I am really glad that Sheryl was recommended to me. She was really tenacious in court, and got me everything that she promised me. Plus when I got a little ahead of myself after court went so well and wanted to get more of the retirement account, Sheryl sat me down and told me that I would end up spending more money pursuing it than I could hope to gain, thus saving me money at her own cost. The kids were already over 18 by the time I got my divorce but I am certain she would have done a good job. She did get me a restraining order against my ex when she lost her mind and decided to start stalking me. Honestly, it was a good purchase and I would use her again if I had the misfortune of getting divorced again.

If I could, I would have rated negative to her! At first meeting, she showed me her RN license to gain trust. I did not get a chance to meet or talk to her since I wrote a check of $5000 for detainment. She charges very quick to $5000 and does not do her job. Her office staff change often and you are charged for that too by billing repeated fees such as "review". Finally my case was filed to court and she did not even inform me the court date. She increased greatly my annual income without my knowledge and luckily I found out before the court date. I had to pull out my case and once again, not a single word from her. I don't understand why she did that and wonder if she really represented me. I am very curious to know how great she is in detail from those who posted "good" here. To me, she is a nightmare and I try to have peaceful mind.

very interesting reading these comments - I hired Sheryl in 2010 based on her good reviews - reading the comments that began in 2010 it looks like we ALL have the same story! She takes your money and you never hear from her again - her substandard staff made so many errors in our case and of course billed me for their corrections, then submitted the incorrect paperwork! She never saw or called me to discuss the case until 24 hours before. When I called asking if she was even going to show up - she promptly reprimanded me and told me that she will no longer represent. Then she SHOWED UP the next day and completely misrepresented my case to the opposing attorney, filed a motion to dismiss herself from my case - and then BILLED ME FOR THAT! I lost custody of my kids, got screwed in the final decree and got billed ANOTHER $4600. She should be up for malpractice - I have contacted the bar association regarding her- you all should too - STAY AWAY!

McDonnell is quick to take your $5,000.00 retainer and bill you up to $10,000.00 and you'll get nothing in return. There should be a law against her! She is a piece of work.

Women and children: Stay far away from this lawyer. DO NOT allow her to represent you or your children in a family law case. Sheryl is a liar and a fathers Rights Attorney. She will stop at nothing to have your children taken from you. She is a very sad excuse for an attorney and should be considered an embarrasment to all lawyers. Protect yourself and your children from this woman.

Unlike the previous raters I had no problem contacting her office. Her staff was very helpful and helped to settle my case in my favor. I would recommend her to anyone. She is very expensive but well worth the money.

My uncontested 6 month divorce timeline turned into a 3 year nightmare. In July of 2009 we hired Ms. McDonnell and gave her our check for her fee. After waiting almost a year with unanswered phone calls I was told my papers were lost and please come in and start over. Her lack of communication continued and when I called the office and asked to speak to her her assistant told me that it would cost me another $400 to consult with her. After waiting another 1 1/2 years with constant phone calls, I insisted on a face to face meeting at which time she stated I was not her client and turned me over to another attorney in the office. It was only at this face to face meeting that I finally received a case number and then my divorce was finally ciompleted in 6 months. Worst attorney, worst nightmare!!!!

Like a lot of people here, Sheryl can never be contacted, over charges clients, and just keeps pumping you for money. I finally had to fire her and finish my own divorce! She also has a very high staff turnover. Very difficult to work with and uncooperative. Stay away from this one.

There is a good chance you will regret hiring this attorney. Despite excellent knowledge of family law she fails to communicate with the client, pursues her own goals and her bill grows faster than the progress of the case. You will not have the feeling that she is really on your side. I do believe that if she wants to win the case for you she is good enough to do it, but I have no idea how to make her want to...

She's not really that good in court. She will take advantage, though, if she detects weakness in the opposing attorney. Overpriced, too much hype and difficult to contact once hired.

I am so happy that I found Sheryl! I would be lost without her. She is an amazing attorney with a vast knowledge of the law. Without her there is no way that I would have been able to have custody of my children, I owe her everything. My only complaints would be is that she is a bit pricey and communication is a bit hard to come by. However, I still think she is worth every penny spent. Divorce is not something that can be rushed and have a good result. I found that if I stopped calling every single day they would still have my case ready by the court day and I wouldn't waste all my money trying to force her to rush everything. I would suggest her to anybody who actually wants to win their case.

Watch out for this one. She knows how to pump you out of money. She is good in court when she wants to be, but thats what keeps you with her. You don't realize that she is keeping you as a client, keeping you in the divorce loop without actually getting your divorce case completed. She is a liar, will lie to you and will take your money and keep taking it. Very unprofessional.

As mentioned by a previous reviewer she is a very busy attorney but she did an excellent job on my case. I was recommended to her by a family friend of mine and I would have to say that she is worth every penny. There was a little bit of a communication lapse every now and then but she did answer all of my questions. I would recommend her to anyone.

Sheryl has charged me twice at $350 for "court appearance" that she did not attend! She never returns my call! She has allowed opposing counsel to postpone our court date twice now and this alone has cost me $$$$$.I would never recommend her.

he did not communicate with me at all after the initial consultation. I was told to fax written questions. She never responded after being told several times by her assistant to resubmit the questions. She never responded to phone calls either. I never received a statement. When I finally found another attorney and asked for a statement and a refund of the unused retainer, I received a statement which did not accounted for only $1,000 of the $5,000 I gave her and claimed I owed her money. I was charged every time for the faxes they kept asking me to resend and supposed meetings which I was never informed about. I did almost everything myself and received no advice. I had to start over with another attorney who helped me more in 1 hour more than she helped in 3 months. I would not recommend her to anyone. Maybe she is a good trail lawyer, but my relatively simple case was heading unnecessarily to trial because of her. She never contacted my ex husband's attorney either.

Sheryl is busy so that means she is hard to contact and sometimes you get ver frustrated but when she goes to court for you, you couldn't ask for a smarter attorney. She is fair and she is very good! Because of her my husband has his kids all the time. You would be lucky to have her. Yes she isn't cheap but what she does it's worth it.

Good luck ever trying to talk to Sheryl. Her staff will just tell you to write a letter to her and will get back to you. Her charges are outrageous!! Is she good in court? Most opposing attorney's piss their pants. So, she is very good in court. Too bad she doesn't run her office as well as she runs the courtroom.

Sheryl is my angel! Without her I would have NO rights whatsoever. If you need an HONEST lawyer that will use every LEGAL means to get you what you deserve she can't be beat. The cost has been significant but I don't believe it's due to Sheryl but rather the constant filings of my x-wife. She knows the law VERY well and uses it frequently to win arguments. She has saved me 10's of thousands of dollars and I don't know what I would do without her. She is GOOD which also means she is BUSY so the communication is a bit slow but she always gets the job done. I recommend her to any FATHERS who are getting the shaft in Riverside's lousy court system.
