Worst ever experience ever... This incompetent, unprofessional excuse for an attorney is what brings a bad name to lawyers. Please, Please seek other counsel before throwing your money away. I spent 6800 dollars and got absolutely nothing. Bruyer & Mackay LLP should be ashamed to have him as a partner and supporting him. There will be a compliant filed with the Alberta Law Society.

After 18 months with a divorce lawyer who did $25,000 of absolutely NOTHING, it was refreshing to retain Mr. Samaroden. He acted quickly to bring my divorce to an end. At all times he was professional, decisively prosecuting my litigation and keeping me informed at all times. The only issues I experienced were with the long delays in having my case reviewed by the Court. But this was beyond the control of Mr. Samaroden. I would highly recommend James.

James is a good lawyer for collaborative divorce. However, he is a pushover and very slow, so the actions are not taken in time, therefore the case is lost. Not bad in paperwork, explains things well.

Not a good value for the money. Suggests bending the rules and doing things under the table. Doesn't explain things fully. Paperwork is full of mistakes and overcharges for simple tasks.

Totally lies, deceptive, non professional and tell clients to lie and goes behind courts back. Sends thing on PDF when it is not to be sent. Send papers after date so the respondent's cannot do a rebuttal on his client that has told blatant lies to judges, courts and clients. Just all round liar manipulator. James did very little work on my case, had the assistant do everything and charged like he was doing it. When it was time for action he did nothing, and made excuses and then quit. Did not remember names or anything else because it seemed like he never even picked up my file. No way this is one of the best lawyers in Edmonton.

James is a great lawyer. He's realistic, very fair, tells you the truth and discusses options in a factual not fairy tale way. I wish he was my lawyer from the start... two others before him that did NOTHING but pocket my money and throw me under the bus and actually caused a lot of ongoing grief with an arrogant ex that continues to threaten and bully me. James does a great job at defending me. I am so fortunate to have found him.

Wish I would have had him seven years ago when I first got divorced, it would have saved me a lot of headache. Fair and reasonable doesn't waste your time and is honest about your circumstances and possible outcomes. So glad I was referred to him, I don't feel like I'm getting taking advantage of by my ex or lawyers anymore.

Fantastic family lawyer. Common sense, practical approach. He does what makes sense and makes every effort to keep negotiations between parties collaborative. However, he will get tough if (and only if) the situation warrants. He is very direct, and able to help his clients take the emotion out of it and focus on the best outcomes for themselves and their families. His stratighforward approach kept the fees down too. He did what he said he would do, within the timelines he set out. Very responsive. He is the very best of 4 family lawyers I have dealt with over the last 15 years. Very highly recommend.

Very professional, sharp and quick witted. Also very intuitive to his clients needs. Aims to find peaceful resolutions, and works very hard to find a solution that works for you. If you are facing a difficult family law issue or are looking for collaborative divorce, I highly highly recommend.
