Lucid....not lucid, i don't think he knows the meaning. He actually had the assets of a family member transferred to an unrelated person by amending the will on the ill-conceived notion that the family member was of sound-mind. Terrible!

This lawyer did a good job of probating my father's will at a good price. I got a discount because of the mistakes his staff made. His personal assistant changed 3 times since the process started. Final sale of last of estate was 2 days ago. I was told money would be available yesterday. Nobody called. I emailed and found out they were sitting on a million dollars and not telling me. They took an extra $2000 fee out of the proceeds and paid themselves without going over the bill with me the day before when I met with him to sign orders to pay etc. Charged double what other lawyers charge for a simple conveyance. He may be OK on estates but don't get him to deal with property transfers.

We first heard Stephen as a presenter on estate planning. We hired him for his knowledge in this area, and he didn't let us down. I am glad that I convinced my father to give him a second chance, after having his first call to the office completely ignored.

This lawyer was working on my dad's will and was to get us to sign. Despite several attempt by my dad to organize things, I never heard from this lawyer, nothing. Thankfully, he was eventually dismissed, so now we might make some progress. Oh, and the 2 and 3 ratings above were giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Stephen did a good job on my husband's will. After my husband passed away I asked him to file for probate. He has not done any work on the probate file and he's had the file for 6 months !!! His communication and response to e-mails are slow or non-existent. He delays work that he deems less urgent and he does not communicate to his clients. He says he will complete a task by a certain date and then he doesn't. For example, I asked for my probate file back. He said it would be ready on the week of July 10. He hasn't e-mailed me or called me and hasn't returned my last phone call. I have put in a complaint about him to the BC Law Society for:delays in returning a file, failure to communication and excessive delays. To a grieving widow, his lack of communication this has added stress and emotional burden to an already difficult time. I would not recommend this lawyer due to his poor communication.

I don't have a lot of experience dealing with lawyers, but this was just awful. The office is a mess, his assistant is not replying emails unless one is writing multiple times. There seems to be not much communication between him and his assistant, one doesn't know what the other is doing. I have received absolutely no suggestions/advice in terms of decreasing probate taxes, etc. I went to sign the will and the will was wrong, the excuse he found was that they lost all the information from their computers a few days earlier (why did not tell me in advance??!), in the end he asked me to send him the last will version we had agreed upon. I sent that, I received back a will draft STILL with mistakes and omissions. I sent his secretary my corrections and observations, no answer for a few days, I receive later an email from him asking me if the will draft is OK. I sent him an email expressing my concerns about his office and the recurrent errors, no answer from his office anymore! Avoid him

First off, he knows his legal stuff, not to mention he is experienced. I believe he does have the client's interests at heart, especially in terms of not wanting to charge unnecessarily. Based on that, I'd recommend him if you're seeking legal advice in his area of expertise. Unfortunately, his office seems somewhat disorganized with paper work and it was frustrating dealing with his assistant. (not returning voice mail messages and emails at times) Response time was on the slow side and follow up could be better, especially when you're paying this kind of money. If you decide to retain him for paperwork, be prepared to be diligent and keeping on top of things with follow up to avoid problems.
