I lost everything, seemed to me she was working with the other attorney (she went to court to postpone the hearing because the other attorney was moving his office and could not be there then charged me for the appearance) I found out because I checked the minutes on line. I had sent her several emails of what I would settle for and then had to tell her. Seemed to me she was not listening or reading any of my emails. I felt like I was in the dark most of the time. Then they kept calling for more $$$$$$. I would not recommended her to a friend.

Very good lawyer. Fights for her cleint as if she was fighting for her self. I would hire her again in a heart beat. Very satisfied. Thank you Janis and staff for all your hard work.

very disappointed in her, horrible office staff, rude, condescending, double billed, does NOT do what they say they will do. waste of time and $, looking for a new attorney. this lady is a nasty, rude person. unhappy!

She talks well in the consultation, but she DOES NOT Deliver. She Mislead Me and guided me to do what Ended-Up Being My Signing Away Many Of My Rights. Having been a stay home mom, with many children, married for 30yrs, I now know it was a pretty easy case, seeing as he was an abusive parent, all the more cut and dry. But like I say she did nothing to help me and in the end I pay a lot to get screwed. She ALSO Makes Up Charges when you finally Fire Her, to make everything all the worse. In my opinion She Takes Advantage of people going through a very difficult time. I wish my X had hired her, because she screwed me over BIG TIME.

I am working on a Divorce. Hired Janis Hilke. This lawyer is a piece of crap as is her staff. They are good at billing, and demanding more money constantly, but that's all they're good at. They will lose your file, lie to you, charge you attorney rates to talk with a Secretary, fail to file the correct paper work, have the wrong name on your paperwork, not reply to questions you have asked, and tell you so and so will be in the office on Monday and they will ask her I have paid her $7,000, made one court appearance and my next appearance is 4 months away. I am shopping for a new attorney who will proceed on my divorce and sue Hilke for the fees I have paid her. Stay away from this incompetent and her staff. She should be disbarred.

I kept this women and trusted her for 2 yrs to complete a simple legal seperation at the cost of $1000's to me with zero results. Ladies and gentlemen every negative rating that has been given in these reviews is true and I would say run I repeat run as fast as you can from this so called lawyer.She will take every cent you have, chew you up and spit you out. Janis is a disgrace to lawyers not to mention women in this profession.

Everybody must be telling the truth. She drags out the divorce for over a year. Misses deadlines for filing and dosen't show up. The one thing she does pay attention to is her billing. It is sent to you twice a month and always wants a $1000 in advance. Her office staff (if they are really paralegals) charges $150 an hour just to talk to you. I never get to talk to her, only the staff. Cashed my check but never gave credit. Even after I fired her, still denies it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LAWYER.

Janis is currently my fiance's attorney but will not be for long. My fiance's family and I have paid over $20,000 to this firm and have accomplished nothing. Janis' paralegal, Michelle, is very rude. She talks down to you and makes you and your case feel very unimportant. They forget to file papers and forget the important facts in your case, but BELIEVE me they do NOT forget how much money you owe and they CERTAINLY don't forget to bill you. We never get the opportunity to speak to Janis herself and when we do she is extremely impatient and uncaring. Janis will drag your court case out for as long as your pockets can reach. The paperwork that they file is filled with errors, which postpone your court case, and they get paid in the end, even if it's their faults. I will be looking on hiring a new attorney in the near future and PRAY that if you're reading this because you need someone to help you in your time of need that you DO NOT RETAIN THIS ATTORNEY!!! It's a waste of time and $$$.

Funny nobodies rated Janis "the bulldog" Hilke in all this time until I sent her a note withdrawing my case from her so called law firm on 1/05/12 and now all of a sudden someone rates her a good review. Her and her law team know exactly how they drug on a very simple divorce over a 1 year period, charged me a bunch of money and did absolutely nothing except lie about what was being done and it still never materialized.There was 1 lump some of money to divide and thats all. No children, property, nothing and this women and her staff lied and drug their feet and did nothing except send me billing invoices breaking down how they spent my funds that were going no where. It was like being pulled over by a cop demanding money or they were going to arrest you for no reason.It's an absolute sin how Janis treats her clients and how her staff lies about everything they've done. May God forgive you Hilke Law Firm. If it wasn't for tis bad review you wouldn't of even scored a 1 out of 5 rating

I'd have to agree with everyone else about this attorney. She has dragged my case out for 2 years and still no judgement! Now I am going to trial and had to hire a new attorney to handle my case.

She is a bad Lawyer and person. That only concern is to take all your money. I have been put thru hell and she has dragged my case out for 1 1/2 years. It was so easy but she keep resetting the dates and then charging my for her unreadness and her staff is the most unprofessional bunch of people you will ever met. They are far from paralegal. There are unable to complete any of the papers that need to be filed and there was nothing but errors and then I would need to go back and forth with them to correct there Issues would just keep costing me more money. Then they would not even file the papers that cost me way to much to get done. I am out about $10,000 in fees and now will have to hire a new lawyer to get this case done that should have been done a long time ago. I will now need to report her to the state bar for action against her. I would tell everyone to just go some were else unless you want to go broke and not have the funds to protect yourself.

I will have to agree with everyone else on using Janice. I hired her several years ago for my custody battle (I am the childrens mother.) Janice was very good at rescheduling the hearing and then would have the nerve to charge me for appearing in court to postpone the date when it was by her request and not mine, not to mention me taking time off work thinking we were going to actually get something done in court. Janice can be outspoken in the court room but I think it irritated the judge more than anything. My ex was getting away with so many lies and nothing being done but him getting his way, I almost became a weekend mom. I fired Janice and hired another attorney who did something about his lies and he became the weekend dad. Janice cost me thousands of dollars and a lot of extensions on the case. I have a co-worker who just recently used Janice and ended up broke and frusterated. She also fired her and hired someone else. Guess Janice has not changed much over the years.

I lived out of state and was fighting for years to be able to spend time with my son. I saw Janice in action and knew I had to have her represent me since I live on the opposite coast and could not always be there in person. She did exactly what I expected her to do. She got me shared custody. The fee was not bad. We went to court 6 times and I only payed 3000. For a lawyer that is not bad at all. I was paying more than that to fly out to California, rent cars and hotels just to spend a week with my son. Now he can travel back to the east coast with me thanks to Janice. If you listen to Janice you will win. I followed the strategic plan she had for me and followed her directions.

Poor service. I had to obain another lawyer to fix her mess. I wrote a letter requesting the balance of my retainer back but she would not do the right thing. I explained how another lawyer had to do exactly what I asked her to do and fix her mess -- she did not care.

I have known Janis and her family for years so I thought it was a no brainer to choose her as my attorney. Big mistake. I am thousands of $ in debt now and I got completely hosed in court because of her. Once my divorce was final I had additional custody concerns that would put me back in court. I called her because she still had my retainer but she wouldn't even get on the phone with me. Instead her paralegal told me that I would have to pay them an additional $1500 to have them file an OSC and Ex Party. I am crushed. She may be a tough attorney but after $6500 in fees I walked away with nothing. I can't believe she treats any of her clients like this much less someone that she knew for years. Very sad.

I am new to Janis Hilke's office, but so far her paralegal assistant, Michele is rude and short-tempered. When I ask Michele a question, she cuts me off and talks down to me. Am I worried? Yes. Especially after now reading other reviews on her office. I should have looked her up first.

I'm going to have to agree with the above rating. To a letter, that was my experience. Her bullying reputation is deserved but she will bleed you of ever last cent and you end up right where you would have if you settled in the very beginning. Except your in debt up to your eyes and your cards are maxed out. She treats her clients poorly and her staff is unresponsive. The work product ends up being poorly written and she is late filing just about everything. The only thing she has going for her is that she can bully people. She tries this with the judges as well though, resulting in a poor reputation among her peers and in the court room.

Janis Hilke is a very Agressive attorney & in that regard she GOOD. Janis has always done a great job of keeping her retainer at a competitive price, so that in turn she gets the clients that everyone elses is actually fighting for. Then she abuses the client my dragging the hell out of their case as long as she possibly can.Sucking them dry of every last dime that they have in their sad pockets. And in the long run she never gets them anywhere, but right where they were when they started this long painful process but now the ONLY difference is they are offically broke! The only satifaction that I personally garrentee that our dear Janis will provide is a show in the court room,is where she gets the "BULLDOG" reputation of being "Good" only from the public humiliation she inflicts on opposing counsil & of course the ex that they are representing.think twice about her she isn't all she makes herself out to be.
