I retained her to apply for my daughter's status back in February 2024. Nothing was done with her file and will not give me back my paper work even legal documents such as birth certificate. I contacted police and she still won't budge. Be very careful as she is no longer in the LSO Directory which probably means she can no longer practice. She has also ceased her lawyer credentials in BC due to depression and financial hardship (supposedly). How can she have financial hardship when she takes money from clients and puts it directly in her personal bank account as stated in her BC case.

Seems kind and caring at first until you send a retainer. Then she completely avoids you. Books appointments and doesn’t show. Does not file anything except a notice of change. Delays delays delays until you’re in front of a judge looking stupid. Barbara is an absolute scam artist and beyond rude to her clients. You’re better off representing yourself because she’s garbage

Wow, i had her in 2012 when i lost my kids to cas... get this im a comtractor and 6months later im pricing out the head of cas a renovation job for $21,000.00 with a $9000.00 deposit after i spent 500 on storage cube for her furniture it dawned on me her name Marissa i forget her last name rn and i was like that mothereffin woman shes the one that made the final ok to take my kids so guess what i did i told her shes beat and thanks for your money i regret even spending the 500 and she tried to keep my tools ...lmao i said thats a case for small claims and lady you will be charged with theft if i dont have my tools within the hour ... i called the cops she had em at the end of her driveway and i would do it again if i had the chance maybe i shoulda cleaned her out totally... im not fit to raise my children but yet i can be in your house dealing with you. Blew my mind. BArbara burton same service as in 2012 i received pure ****.DO NOT GET HER FOR NOTHING SHES USELESS.WASTE OF TIME

Was working with my ex husband’s lawyer to screw me over!”Forgot” to show up at court, lost evidence!….oh and she can not practice law in BC, She was found guilty of fraud and skipped town to Sudbury where we have no law standards. She apparently physically assaulted a member of the Woman Center by jumping over a table and lounging at the and calling them a “stupid ****”….learned the hard way, don’t use her! Or recommend her to your ex’s…

She is a crook and about to lose her license to practise. She bills fake accounts, she doesn't show up to court, she is a lying crook. DO NOT USE HER.

As well as everyone else I found her nice at first but then she stopped returning calls and actually sided with my ex husband. He has now skipped child support payments and left me with over 3000 dollars in bills and she's done nothing! My son and I even got screwed over on the deal for the house and have no money to help us move in less than a month and several other things to. Total waist of time and energy...finding a good supportive lawyer is highly recommended.

I hired her to follow up with custody papers and changes to be made with FRO. At first, she was very nice, showed empathy and appeared supportive and therefore provided her with a retainer. After calling several times and not getting anywhere, I told the secretaries that I was going to start looking for someone else to represent me, and within minutes this lawyer returns my call stating that she was out of the community and had experienced a loss in her family blah blah blah, however being a kind person I gave her second chance. After a couple of months of spending my money, she did ABSOLUTELY nothing! She was horrible, do yourself a favour and move on to another lawyer. Honestly, the only way that she is in business is by stealing people's money!

because i was a white femail looking for seperation assistance, she was nice at the initial meeting, cashed my cheque for retainer, then the next week met with me in the reception area and told me she would not represent me... Bad very very Bad
