I hired Robin Ann Lewis to help me break my lease. She advised me to surrender possession of my apartment and negotiate a resolution. In hindsight, that was not the best course of action, but that’s not my only concern.
After I surrendered possession, I waited for months, and Ms. Lewis never resolved my lease issue. To this day, I'm not sure what work she did. Waiting nearly the entire duration of my lease just to determine how much I owed feels unreasonable— moreover, my money was worth more at the beginning, and I was ready and willing to pay from the outset.
She also claimed that her representation was successful because my landlord didn’t sue me during the lease. This reasoning also seems flawed, as the landlord could only sue after the lease ended—which is exactly what happened. Ultimately, I had to hire a different lawyer to get the help I needed.

She was not forced to take my case. I paid her money, she accepted that money, and then she proceeded to sleep on my rights and approach my time-sensitive issue with no urgency. During the course of her representation, certain confidential material was posted on the court website by another lawyer. I called her to resolve this - she didn’t get back to me for weeks. She told me to ask the random lawyers at my job to help. I ended up figuring it out by myself, and then I fired her and got a new lawyer.
