According to the probate judge, the firm gave incorrect advice to me - leading to add'l work and billable time. this atty is a CPA with IRS tax experience and still had to constantly redo work (final inventory, final accounting, receipts, etc - all acctg issues) at almost every step - leading to repeat mailings of the same items to interested parties. this led to additional billable hrs. Even though he had all related tax info prior to submitting the final acctg - failed to file decedents personal & estate taxes until 11 mos after the final acctg was signed and submitted - even when reminded that the taxes were still not done prior to signing and submitting the final acctg. I believe this was strictly in order to increase his billable time above the court allowed cap from the estate. IMHO, the quality of legal work was inadequate and not sync with the rates charged. Billing practices are being challenged.
