Mark and his legal assistant Jennifer were genuinely sincere,caring, professional and honest from the moment they agreed to take my legal file. There were no surprises whatsoever and their punctual follow up was top class. I never felt overwhelmed with any of the legal jargon and my stress levels reduced signifanctly over time. Jennifer and Mark are a solid team and I would recommend them without hesitation. Mark will roll up his sleeves and go to work and has a great postive attitude. I was connected with Mark through a family friend when I unexpectedly needed counsel due to a legal matter with my former employer. Throughout the process, Mark and Jennifer were professional, respectful and understanding - they listened, explained things in a straight-forward manner and kept me updated and informed as we went along. Most of all, he gave me the peace of mind that I was right to contact him in the first place, that he genuinely felt my frustration and understood the emotions that went with how I was treated. I never expected to be in this situation, and am extremely grateful to Mark and Jennifer for their tireless work to help resolve the matter in the way it always should have been.

I felt very comfortable with Mark right from the beginning. How do you shop around for a lawyer right? But I did talk to a few others and Mark was the only one I felt who was genuinely on my side. Jennifer was great as I dealt with her more frequently but when it did come time to speak directly to Mark it was a no nonsense conversation. Straight and to the point. He always told me the truth and didn’t lead me to believe I would get more then my fair share. He told me up front the fee and the final bill was exactly what he quoted me and not a penny more. We did not go to litigation but if we had I feel I would have been in good hands.
I am very happy with Mark and Jennifer and would recommend them to anyone. I hope I never have to go through the ordeal I went through again, but if I do find myself requiring a lawyer, I will NOT hesitate to call on the services of Mark Coulston and Jennifer

Was told I had a good complaint against my previous employer and that he would represent me. I followed up 3 times over the next month and could not get an update or response from him. I gave up. I never did hear from him again.

My experience working with Mark was fantastic. At the time I contacted him, I was going through a very difficult and unexpected situation. I found Mark to be knowledgeable and worked extremely quickly to resolve my case as fast as possible. Other than getting the best possible outcome for me, the most important thing I found was his timely communication with me. Whenever I emailed him or called his office for an update, I always received a quick response. When dealing with such a stressful circumstance, I can't overstate the importance of timely responses. Overall, Mark was honest, relentless in his negotiating to achieve the best settlement, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Mark.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I paid 3 to 4 times more than should have been charged for the amount of time spent on my case. I had to follow up on a continuous basis and it took 3 months to resolve a simple case. Make sure you are clear up front as to what the expected costs will be.

I've experienced Mark's expertise in both family and labour law issues. I found him extremely skilled in his practice of law in my cases. He functions from a strong ethical compass and in my experience, genuinely cares. He responds in a timely way to crucial issues and never left me hanging wondering. Billing was extremely fair and no retainer was every asked for. I've recommended Mark to others (women also) who have found him similarly skilled and genuine.

We had a difficult situation with my husband's employer and Mr. Coulston did what he needed to do to get good results for us. He listened to what was being said and to the sub-text and explained everything completely. He treated me as a valued client and put our fears to rest. He explained the billing process and exactly how the fee would be determined. He had no expectation of payment until everything was finished. Highly recommend him.

I came across these reviews before I met with Mark Coulston. I became concerned that I, as a woman, was going to have a problem with Mark, and what sounded to me like a pretentious and sexist lawyer. I was going for a 30 minute free consultation, as I wasn't sure how much solid ground I had to stand on for my case. I felt Mark presented some very factual concepts and made reality a very obvious thing. Told me the pros and cons of moving forward with my case. He left it in my hands to decide and even offered to put out the first feeler and quoted me what that would cost. I suppose one never knows what the chemistry will be like until you sample it. Trust your gut. If you don't gel well with Mark there are many other lawyers out there doing the same type of law for similar prices. Understand the difference between the actual details of your case, and what a lawyer's position and job is, and know when you just didn't come out on top. Best of luck to all!

Mark Coulston took on my case but had no interest or time to deal with it. He would remind me frequently that he had over 100 other cases but said he had time for mine, which he did not. He was rude and errogant and is definitely a “guys guy”. He certainly did not have my best interest in this case. He did not respond to 3/4 of my emails nor did he read any documentation that I provided to him. I always had to remind him of what documents I sent him. He has not followed up with the end result and only interested in his payment which he doubled once he knew the other side would pay for his fees. As a women I would never refer him to anyone that I know, especially women. He had no respect for my situation and it certainly showed. He never shook my hand once! He is one of the worst lawyers that I have ever dealt with.

I found Mark to talk down to me, to look for ways to bill me for unnecessary steps in a relatively quick and easy separation (never set foot in court and no major issues, equal divisions decided beforehand as we were young and didn't hab much) I was in my early 20s and felt that he took advantage of my young age and emotional mentality at the time. He was harsh and abrupt with me. He didn't fully disclose his fees. He had me do things that were to help my claim for spousal support which I specifically said I did NOT want. Yet I was billed then for all of that. Overall I feel that he is plain out the stereotype of a lawyer. He also made a mistake on the final agreement about payment of childcare, which after it was all done and something came up a year later he simply said "it should have been worded like that" and of course it was to my benefit.
