I recently had the misfortune of using Nigel in an Unjustment Enrichment contest. A view of what he did for me: took him 11 drafts to get to a final document and yes I paid. Then he recommended Roxy Petts to act as a Mediator/Arbitrator and he recommended he be in attendance even though I said I was OK without him. So we get to the M/A meeting and he speaks up twice in close to 3 hours telling me to wait in one of those comments. Never once challenged the other lawyer in any of their proposals. He says he can close the account for $2,500 and I disagreed to which he then said $500 then said pro bono. Then he sends me an invoice for $2,500. I was not happy and told him so. Based on my experience I would NEVER recommend him for any legal services. There is a reason he has a rating of 2.6 on laywerratingz.

Nigel Montoute epitomizes why divorce lawyers have reputation as snakes, more interested in money than in a fair outcome. He’s competent. He represented my ex and they “won” the case. I was going after a fair division of assets, in order to set up education funds for “our” grandkids. My ex fought me but was open to compromise. I’m not “blaming” her, even though she did long say she’d help the grandkids. But Montoute dragged out the case and we spent more on bloody lawyers than would have been set aside for “my” grandkids (which they are now). Montoute is competent, unlike Rupert Joshi, my “lawyer”. But all he cares about is his fees, not a fair outcome. My grandkids lost. He got his money. Hope he can sleep at night!

Nigel Montoute is an unethical and morally corrupt individual. He coaches he's clients to alienate children from other parent this qualifies as child abuse. Unscrupulous in using and abusing children's mental and emotional vulnerability to fill he's pockets.

Nigel handled my own divorce in 2013/14. He knows the law, knows how to negotiate within the law, and above all he seeks to understand his clients' goals. If you want some "nasty" lawyer who will slag others for no good reason, that's not the measure of a lawyer. However, being able to get a reasonable result, efficiently, and effectively, is what Nigel is good at. In other words, he is absolutely my hero.

Nigel is a skilled lawyer who is able to read the situation and give you thoughts on the "best outcome" and the best strategy to use. In my experience, he is an honest / ethical lawyer who has his client's best interests at heart but will speak the truth (which is sometimes hard to hear). Nigel is willing to go "to bat" for his clients and is not afraid of being tenacious or "calling out" the other side. He is a balanced litigator who does not grandstand and a great lawyer who understands the complexities and limitations of the family law system.

Do not expect your issues to be resolved unless you can afford to devote a substantial amount of your money and time delaying your case. He will not initiate any measures on your part regardless of the opposition’s bad faith shown and their failure to act with your requests. He will threaten and then abandon you when you are at your lowest and leave you to defend you case on your own regardless of how unfairly you’ve been dealt with in the past by the opposing counsel and their client.
