Leslie McWilliams in few words: 1- She loves to fight and she can make things more difficult than necessary. 2- she understands that the longer the fight, the more fees she can collect, and that is what happens. 3- Behind that tough outlook, there hide broken woman that was consistently assaulted by her ex-husband, and now believes that every man is a bad, and needs to be taken out. Her fight against men is her constant battle against her past and her ex-husband. That is not really productive for your current divorce, separation, or custody issue. In the end, the Judge will rule based on the merits. Judges have seen her antics, and most do not even allow her to go on her rants. She will sell you a good line since she was in your position at some point before. I would avoid Leslie like the Plaque. Find some of her ex-employees and speak to them, you will learn about her, her drinking habits and other behaviors that would clearly show you the other side of this attorney. Caution.

I used Leslie in a very long and heated divorce. She was very personable and professional. I have referred a lot of clients Leslie's way and will continue to do so. Her fees were reasonable and besides, you get what you pay for! BTW...she did an AWESOME job for me!

I have used Leslie in a heavily contested divorce matter. Custody, division of assets and everything else related to a divorce. Leslie claimed to have a plan, they she used before. First get a restraining order against the father. make him look bad, prevent him from seeing his kids. Then keep calling him to get him angry and violate the order. She advised me to try to get him mad and angry, by dating other men, and have him know about it. Then she advised me to tease him and play with his mind, let him think that we are friends and to get friendly to get info out of him. i went along with Leslie and her plans. It took over two painful years, lots of games played. Lots of hurt feelings. Our children suffered tremiondously, our fianances suffered, Leslie was expensive and required alot of Money. End result was not as glamours . i am still making payments to leslie, and gues what, The Judge knew all of Leslie's Games. He was a lawyer before being a judge. He knew her games well. AVOID.

I used Leslie about 7 or 8 years ago; I was getting out of a bad marriage, but more importantly, she helped me adopt my "step-grandaugher"; her father had been killed in an auto accident; the biological mother was in prison; no one wanted to take care of her, but they didn't want me to adopt her, either; just keep custody; needless to say,she worked her magic; got the custody case out of juvenile court, got us into chancellory court, where after nearly 2 yrs and countless hours, I was able to adopt my "step-granddaughter", who is now 15 yrs old; i would recommend leslie to anyone who has a custody matter and wants someone who is really interested in the child, leslie is the person you want in your corner!

I retained Ms Mcwilliams in an attempt to understand Divorce law, after a warm conversation i was led to believe that she would be my advocate and act in my best interest. My ex-husband through his attorney proposed a parenting plan, a divisions of assets proposal, and a final divorce decree, and child support payments. Leslie advise to reject all proposals promising me a better financial position in the division of assets, Alimony, and substantial child support payments. After almost two years of contention, i received my final divorce decree. a judgment far less than the initial offer my x husband proposed. The exact parenting plan that my x husband proposed, no alimony, less child support. In addition to all of the above, i have Leslie's fees to pay. The day i used Leslie is a bad day in my life, my children s life and my X husbands life. i seriously advise against using this attorney. It is apparent that money was her only quest in this case, i am greatly disappointed!!!!

The problem with this site is that anyone can post a rating as many times as they want, whether you are a bitter fellow attorney or someone who has been defeated in court. I have only recently retained Mrs. McWilliams, but her reputation, from verifiable sources, not the anonymous internet, clearly establishes her as one of the top 5 attorneys in her field in the area. My experience thus far has only confirmed this. She wouldn't be expensive if people were unwilling to pay her prices. She does not advertise, but maintains a full plate from referrals only. With lawyers, more than any other field, you get what you pay for. I have not spoken to anyone familiar with local family law that had anything but praise for Mrs. McWilliams. If you are basing your choice of representation off of an anonymous internet site, you probably don't deserve an attorney of her caliber. Just find some ambulance chaser in the yellow pages.

Leslie Understands legal processes and procedures; what she lacks is common sense to piece the knowledge of the law and practicality. Tenacity is often misconstrued as quality work, facts support otherwise. A controversial divorce and contested matters only support the lawyer’s bank account; thus Leslie thrives on Contention and obstructionism. After all it only benefits her the most to contest, obstruct, and often manipulate. When retaining Leslie the writing is on the wall, you will pay, and pay dearly, results are not guaranteed; ask other lawyers how they rate her prior to retaining her. Specifically ask what do Judges think about her? What would a Judge’s reaction be upon learning that another case with Leslie is on the docket for him/her? More than likely they are not amused and would not be looking forward to that case. Would you want the Judge to have an initial negative opinion regarding your case based on whom your lawyer is? That would not be very smart!!! Word to the wise!

Leslie is a fantastic lawyer. She just helped me end a bitter divorce and a very abusive marriage of 9 years. She is very a very hard working lawyer and she knows her stuff. I can see the comments below and know that they were posted by my exhusband, forensic studies of his syntax can prove that. Leslie is a wonderful lawyer and I would highly recommend her to anyone who has had an abusive relationship and needs a divorce.

Does not follow up and promptly return calls. At one point took nearly 2 weeks for a call back. Lack of tenacity and poor work. Does not protect her clients and allows vague and open points in divorce derees that end up being overruled and costing the client more money. More concerned with billing her hours than representing a client.
