Sangiovanni tried to send my child to a counselor who had prior been credibly accused of aiding and abetting child abuse. Enough about Sangiovanni, he is not the problem. Do you think judges who assign him to be "guardian ad litem" don't know what he is like? In regard to those who fault his work ethic: he is not lazy. If he doesn't actually work on your case it would be because he knows the judge doesn't want to hear your case and he is perpetrating a "capture and kill", capturing your case so he can kill in on behalf of the judge. If he assaults your child with a recommendation that is against the child's interest, that would be because he knows the judge wants to play "good cop" and needs a malicious person like Sangiovanni to play "bad cop". What is needed is a change in law replacing the judicial and lawyer review boards, currently populated with insiders, with panels of citizens drawn at random (like a jury) who will hear complaints re. lawyers and judges and have the power

I hired him to represent my daughter and her children. He promised everything, tooted his own horn and even said that he was so good at what he does that he would be refunding some of the initial $5,000 retainer because he could get results quickly. What a joke! I was stupid enough to give him another $3500 because he convinced me he could get the job done. He had the nerve to ask for more money after that with no results whatsoever. I finally smartened up and walked away from his****ty services. Only one thing was accomplished here, him conning me out of my money. This was a case where small children were in danger and being abused and neglected. Extremely disappointed with the service I received! Thanks for nothing Peter Sangiovanni!

In my case, Peter allowed my co-parent to live with a drug addict while he was on home confinement for beating up his child's mother, because he said that my child liked the guy. It was only through my attorney that an argument could be made before the judge that Peter was naïve, and that the guy should be banned for his drug use. Ultimately, the individual was ordered to drug test in my family court case, at no help from Peter, and he failed numerous drug tests after being ordered to drug testing, and was banned from my child against Peter's recommendation. Peter knew this individual was a drug addict due to an overabundance of evidence given to him in the months leading up to him being banned, and Peter ignored the evidence, in order to simplify his job as guardian ad litem, and narrow down the issues to be addressed at court, while charging an abundance of money for little to no work done by him.

Terrible divorce attorney. Paid a lot of money and he did not fight the case. Consulted me to give up an unnecessary amount of equitable distribution and more child support than the courts guidelines. Do not use Peter as your divorce attorney. I regret that I did. I should have read these reviews before hiring him.

Peter is very expensive and his overall work ethic is bad. I’m sure some people have had an good experience with him but not me nor anyone who I asked regarding him. He is very expensive and does not complete his work in a timely manner, if you’re a male and need a GAL for a custody case STAY AWAY from Peter. I’ve read the comments below and strongly agree that he favors the mom.

Excellent choice for a divorce. Always able to reach him and he honestly dealt with me. Everyone know that most people who post to these sites are all negative all the time. I felt i had to set the record straight about Peter. Great lawyer. Easy to talk to. Always available.

Peter Sangiovanni was appointed GAL for a children’s case. He has a reputation of being extremely expensive and he is. He charged the male several times after his initial payment and became hostile towards him, but was extremely nice and understanding towards the mother in the case. He barely interviewed the children or anyone else and despite the amount of proof against the mother of neglect and abuse he still sided with her. If you’re a male looking for a GAL stay away from peter because he highly favors the mother in custody cases and does not look at the actual evidence. He doesn’t practice to do what’s in the best interest of the children. The relationship between the mother and peter was obviously inappropriate for someone who is practicing on the children’s behalf.

An honest attorney who ihas extensive experience in contested divorces. If you have a complicated matter he can get the job done for you.

I highly recommend Peter Sangiovanni if one is looking for a divorce attorney with integrity, compassion and a strong sense of fairness. Twelve years ago I went through a nasty, somewhat complicated divorce and Mr. Sangiovanni was unwavering in his fight for me. Additionally, he was patient and honest with how the system works and what I could expect. Ten years later, my ex-husband tried to renege on a large payment due me and thanks to Mr. Sangiovanni's airtight wording of the divorce decree and, again, his integrity, tenacity and strong belief in righteous justice, I came out of the second court ordeal infinitely better than I imagined.

Communication skills are non-existent. Calling him, his office or sending e-mails is useless....Very disappointed. Women have the upper hand in divorce/child custody so if you need a lawyer who can be straight with you and keep you informed, look elsewhere..

Sangiovanni is ill equipped to be practicing law in RI or any other State. He handled my divorce poorly and even though it is over, I just found about this site and wanted to make others aware. He consistenly didn't challenge the opposing attorneys motions. He had me sign a PSA that when I should it to other attorneys after the fact, they classified it as malpractice. Unfortunately is a legally binding contract and not much I can do now. There were so many loopholes I take responsibility for signing it. He practices law like a factory - get em in, get em out and bill as much as possible.

Absolutely horrible experience! Was given the privilege of being Guardian en Litem on my custody case and hardly spent any time investigating the situation or talking to my children. Probably spent about 2 hours on my case and continued to ignore negative evidence of my ex's verbal abuse on my children. Told me in beginning that he would speak to whomever I wanted in an effort to help my children and didn't even call anyone until weekend before court date. Only spoke to 2 people out of 6 on my list. Peter should not be given this privelige of helping children whatsoever. Not to mention he was outrageously expensive. stay away!

Peter seemed to have a bad image of me from the beginning and seemed to always talk down on me. I proved many times that my ex was lying and he still believed what she had said. My daughter even told him many things and he just put aside what she had told him. He mixed my words up several times and lied in his report. He had told me one amount for his time and then when it came to court he brought forward another amount which was 3 times the amount. When we started he said to pay him in the end and then at court he said that he asked me to pay him several times (which was not true at all!) I would not recommend him to ANYONE!

Attorney Sangiovanni handled my divorce with dignity. He was faced with my ex-husband and his lawyers' arrogance. He represented myself and my children's bests interests always. I was able to see how very well respected he is in the legal community when were were in court. I would recommend Mr. Sangiovanni highly because of his professionalism.

Expensive and ripped me off. Doesn't look out for the best interest of the child, no communication, inconsistent, useless unless you are the "agressor" in the party, easily intimidated, biased. Terrible work quality - given crucial documents that he didn't bother looking at. Make sure you have an agreement and that it is SIGNED BEFORE you go to court, otherwise, will make changes that are not in your child's favor and best interest. Made a major omission in a court order which cost me $$$. Lacks knowledge in key areas.
