Passive is an understatement! If you are in a custody battle, run the other way. There is no fight in him at all. In the end I nearly lost my child and am paying support for my child whom I have the vast majority of the time. Do not fall for his recommendations as to a PRE, he is absolutely in cahoots with the two individuals he "recommends" to examine your case. They took our money, a LOT of money, did nothing and refused to even review any evidence, despite the mountain of it presented, and drug it out over and over to bilk us for ever more money. In court he looked for all the world like a lost dog looking for a squirrel. He couldn't keep anything straight, my orders are a mess, he did nothing to rectify the situation and the second the finger pointed his way, promptly submitted his Notice of Withdrawal claiming his job was done and held his hand out for more money. He's nothing but a shyster working with a con man and woman who call themselves therapists.

This man is beyond corrupt. If you want to be lied to, encouraged to drag out your case and increase the number of times you go to court so that you can spend every last dime you have on your divorce attorney, Jim English is the guy for you! But he will charm you and make you think he is working for your best interest. He will demolish your ex spouse, but he will do the same to you financially without you realizing it.

I found James English to be helpful right from the Initial Consultation. I wasn’t even sure I needed to hire an attorney in the beginning, as my spouse and I were initially trying to go Pro Se. A couple of other attorneys I talked to wouldn’t give me any help at all if I wasn’t going commit to hiring them. They just danced around my questions. Mr. English actually looked at my paperwork and answered a lot of my questions.
He really seemed to be the expert on my particular situation, as far as my ex being retired military and having IRA’s and 401K’s that I didn’t even realize I was partially entitled to after a 20-year marriage.
If I hadn’t had Mr. English on my side, my “ex” and his fancy Cordell & Cordell lawyers could have really steamrollered over me. They we very expensive with a lot of extra emails, long expensive unnecessary conferences, needless duplicate mailings, sending the wrong credit card records over and over, etc. I’m glad I had an attorney I could trust on my si

Good knowledge and experience. Work quality was usually good. Only beef was how he handled the one mistake that was made (by his legal assistant). Refused to acknowledge mistake; never corrected mistake - I wound up having to order court transcripts on my own just to prove the mistake occurred. Generally, the stereotypical response that gives lawyers such a bad reputation.

This attorney's knowledge is fair, however should be good as there is years of experience. There was terrible communication with opposing party. He never returned email or phone messages. Would never listen to opposing party. Work quality was bad. The headings for the pleadings were always incorrect. The pleadings could never establish who he represented. The heading would show he was the attorney for the Petitioner, then the body would say he was representing the Respondent and vice versa. Pleadings would even quote directives which have been repealed for more than several years. This attorney displayed no compassion towards the needs of the minor children. Colorado CLE requires 7 hours of ethics training, however, this attorney requires 21 hours.
