All I can say if you’re ever subjected to an appearance in Phil’s World is this: prepare to be steamrolled by some utterly bonkers, criminally unfair decrees; and for God’s sake, please file an appeal with the state Board as soon as you can. He’s due to retire back to his condo in the center of Hell soon, but if he could leave the bench with a censure from the appeals court it might help to bring some karmic balance back to the universe.

This judge is an insult to real judges. As stated in the review of him in 2015 by "Courtroom Insight". "He has a 1 out of 5 rating in every category. Legal ability, objectivity and impartiality, communication skills and demeanor". "Judge Cortese has consistently shown a pattern of ruling in a manner preventing one from receiving full, fair or impartial treatment". "Mr. Cortese faithfully does not adhere to the oath he took for office nor does he pursue justice. The problem here is nobody will stand up to him publicly or they are put at great risk if they ever have to appear in front of him again". I fully agree. He is and has been out of control for the 9 years I've had to deal with him. Making statements that are not true, not following courtroom protocol and feeding his short man complex and narcissism at every opportunity.

I think Judge Cortese is a very wise and fair judge. I think this is a man who pays close attention when people talk and can smell **** a mile away. I dealt with other judges who hardly pay attention and seem like they can't be bothered and either allow lawyers to drag things out or make a decision without looking at all the facts. Judge Cortese demands respect in his courtroom and he most definitely deserves it.

I can only imagine Cortese's skills as a lawyer are as atrocious as his family court placement in Montgomery County, NY. He is an awful justice! I can't wait until he has a celebration party in 2022 as if its a victory.... Phil Cortese... winning all the time; unopposed...he has not campaigned or ran against anyone? Difficult race and decision?! Gee; the people that have to suffer and appear in front of this judge should have a say? The people in Fonda obviously really do not care who runs for family court as they do NOT have to deal with him or are retired, or broke. I say this judge needs to be impeached for perjury - Obstruction of justice - and unlawful conduct at best.This is my opinion of this judge as I have been in front of him many years.
