In my opinion Mark Borden is a full blown CROOK! This guy is after nothing but your money. he will do everything in his power to not see a judge. When things get serious and you need him he will try and get you to sign a package dismissing him from the case... I HAVE FOUND OTHER PREVIOUS CLIENTS WITH THE EXACT SAME STORY AS ME. I was forced to bring an urgent motion as a result of my wife removing my son from our residence and taking him out of school without my consent. Mark immediately arranged for an urgent motion and his firm was very accommodating, prepared the required documents and ensured that I was represented properly for the motion. I was able to have my son returned to his home and school after the motion was heard and we are doing very well. The case still has to be resolved but I am very happy that I was able to be properly represented under such extreme circumstances.

Mark Borden and his assistant Kerry Nesbitt are the only reason we are where we are today. 5 years ago, I thought my husband was never going to gain his equal rights. Mark was to the point and made sure that the lines were drawn. After all the court cases, in the end we were able to prove that the opposing party was truly a vindictive and lying individual. Family court is expensive and Mark and his staff have never harassed us or dropped us because of financial issues. They require communication which is not unreasonable to request, and they continue to work with us when needed. Thank you Mark for keeping it real and fighting for what's right.

Thanks Mark for helping me get closure to my motion to change. Finally after ten years. Mark gave me the straight goods on what position to take, even if I didn't like everything he said. Lawyers know what will fly in court and what won't. I am an experienced self litigator and I needed his guidance. He gave me opportunities to represent myself which saved me money. His office staff has allot of experience. They are great at the paperwork, which save allot of grief. On this money issue I read about in these reviews, it's an unfortunate reality that Lawyering is a business, they don't work for free. However, there was multiple times I was provided discounts and empathetic advice from Mark and especially his staff.Thanks again, and I hope I am never in court again.

How anyone can rate Mark as anything other than GREAT is beyond me. He is thorough & extremely capable in all areas of family law. When he took over my case from another lawyer he was the most professional & competent lawyer I have ever seen. Very happy with his legal services & his staff are also the best at what they do. Everyone is on top of the law & what is required from the start to the completion of my file. Considering the lawyer on the other side that he had to deal with - he is a miracle worker. I have a legal background so I really know what I am talking about here. I highly recommend Mark and his firm. He is very professional and cost effective in all his legal costs/charges. My case was initially being handled by a different lawyer in Mark Borden's firm, however Mark eventually took over my case. My case became a very complex and lengthy custody and access matter and Mark was able to bring this to a quick and favourable closure once he took over my case. While working with Mark I found him knowledgable, professional and he provided great guidance with my situation. I found his staff courteous, professional, responsive and overall a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend Mark again.

Mark has never given up on me or my children. He has always shown up and has filed very good paper work. He has listen to my requests and has always put the children first. $7000 in a custody battle Mr Borden 3 days before court asked my daughter for $3000 more inorder for him to continue . We asked for a payment plan as we were out of money . He then dropped my daughter as a client because we could come up with any more money. This is immoral and shows Mr Borden has no client loyalty . All he wants is the money not caring about his clients and there needs. I have reported him to the law society as well . Please BEWARE OF THIS LAWYERS IMMORAL AND LACK OF CLIENT LOYALTY. All he wants is your money

Where do I start?...This man completely screwed me. He never returned my phone calls and gave me horrible advice. He charged me $10,000 to completely screw up my case, it cost me $8,5000 for another lawyer to sort through the mess. I will be reporting this man to the BAR. He shouldn't be allowed to destroy anyone elses life.

Absolute horrible experience. I assisted my boyfriend who was going through a divorce, with resources and money to get him through a terrible time in his life. His health suffered through the process and knowing this , mark asked for additional money. After realizing he had no more money, his assistant suggested he put it in his credit card!! Not returning calls and providing "wish wash" answers are something her hit his doctorate in. The final part of this guys attention to our matter resulted in another lawyer completing things immediately and professionally.

This is the worst lawyer. Agree with other comments. He makes an appointment quick to get your retainer money. After him and his secretary keep you going in circles don't return calls, hard to make appointment. makes you look bad to other sides lawyer. Caused added grief stress and money. When the other sides lawyer says your lawyer wasn't helping you... draw your own conclusion. For over 6 months he did NOTHING for my divorce. I had to get a new lawyer. RUN RUN RUN from this man. The law society should investigate him.Better to have no lawyer than to have him. Oh hiring him is the same as not having a lawyer.

I agree with all previous messages. If you want to get nowhere's fast while spending a great deal of money then this is your guy. He will wait until the last minute to tell you about important dates. He will wait until something is urgent then say he can't proceed without another $1500 retainer. He is vague on what you are entitled to in regards to your divorce. He will drag things out as long as possible to extract more money from you. I'm not even sure he knows what he is doing as a lawyer...but as a swindler he sure does and his staff goes right along with it! Thank heaven for public forums, hopefully this will save a few people a large headache and an empty bank account.

This lawyer took all my money when he was retained in private and also through Legal aid. He took all the money and used all the hours and advised me to leave all issues to be resolved through Legal Aid Settlement Conference. 2 weeks before the Conference he refused to represent me and my case is heading to exit pre trial. No lawyer was able to handle my case because it is getting very close to trial. Do not hire this thieve and praying for God to deal with him in His own ways. Reported to LSUC.on.ca

Terrible lawyer!! He requested an initial retainer and told me that he'd be able to get what I wanted for that price. (simple separation agreement) He managed to inflame my ex's lawyer, thus starting a back and forth. He had his secretary call me and say 'The deal is done, however to sign we need an additional $500.' Yes, he held my separation agreement hostage. Couple that with incredibly bad advice, taking months (!!) to get back to me, and not explaining important legal matters... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. You'll end up firing him in the end.

This lawyer took every last penny of the retainer I gave his firm and I received absolutely nothing in return. Postponed a court date without my consent costing me undue monthly payments, never returned emails requesting updates and never bothered to set an emergency hearing even weeks after I had requested he due so. When I finally fired him, I found it very coincidental that when I received his final statement of account, every dollar was used down to the penny.

He is not worth the time or effort...I finally went and got a new lawyer and most lawyers will not say anything negative about another lawyer but mine certainly did. When my file was transferred, my new lawyer said nothing was worth the paper it was written on. He NEVER returns phone calls, I was no further ahead than I was when the case began, it was 3 yrs before I realized I could get a new lawyer. He was not helpful, in fact he misleads you, and drags things out much longer than they need to be. Since I got my new lawyer, I've almost finished my case in less than 6 months and so far I've gotten everything I wanted. I would find more info about the case from the other party before this lawyer would tell me and often I would have to call and ask about it. COurt was postponed on one occassion and I wasn't notified by mail until the day after it was scheduled for...I only knew not to show up as the other party told me. My friend also had the exact same issues as I experienced.
