I had an audit back in 2018. and was assessed about $700,000 at stake between me and the Corporation. Dealing with Cra was an absolute nightmare during the audit. However, I luckily met Richard Yasny,tax litigation lawyer,who is now my life savior. To make a long story short, Richard, a perfectionist, worked hard and nearly all of the amount was eliminated after Tax Court appeal.Now I am back to my normal life and I can breath. Thanks to Richard.

I called Mr. Yasny for some concerns regarding my business' taxes. Mr. Yasny was extremely helpful and honest; he went out of his way to voluntarily point me in the right direction. I am grateful and strongly suggest his services for any tax dispute related issues!

Sourcing a taxation legal counsel as a trusted advisor is a difficult process. I am very fortunate to have Mr. Yasny as my counsel. I was initially concerned about the balance between the quality of service and fee, a priority I have with other legal counsels (real estate law, traffic law, family law, and small claims court). However, Mr. Yasny was very fair and over delivered on rendered services to the fees I paid. I am very satisfied with his service. I can only hope to find the same quality of counsel in other areas of law.
Mr. Yasny provided legal counsel regarding a multi-year complex corporate tax situation, and personal tax. Luckily we did not have to go to litigation with the CCRA.

As a CPA,CA with many years of taxation experience and in public practice, I was most pleased with Mr. Yasny's service. The case involved an Informal Procedure appeal. I consulted Mr. Yasny solely for research, appeal submission and general advise based on facts and case law. The cost of litigation was not warranted. The taxes involved were less than $25,OOO for two years. I appealed an assessment regarding alleged unreasonable expenses such as vehicle expense, home office, meals and entertainment etc. and alleged unreported earnings, as usual in a small business and professional self employed taxpayer situation. Costs paid to Mr. Yasny were very reasonable given that the issues were very complex and time consumming. Mr. Yasny was very responsive and attentive to details even calling when more recent cases changed our strategy. I settled out of court with a favourable result. The cost of litigation would have been far in excess of the taxes, interest and penalties involved.

My small business client got CRA assessment for 10 years of late-filing penalties related to foreign property reporting forms (T1135). Richard handled the case very well with very reasonable charge. He fully understood my client's concern with his excellent knowledge of the tax law and experience of the tax litigation process. He provided his professional opinion to guide us through this litigation from the beginning to the end efficiently. As a result, the Crown has conceded my client's appeal in full with no need to proceed to the court. Retained 2013, several complex CRA audits,10 corps & 2 personal assessments $8M (inc tax, pen & int) Corporation affairs intertwined & required internal “forensic” review. His forensic accountant was hired. Several detailed submissions made to CRA:

Corp assess reversed 99%.
Personal “net worth technique” assess for unreported income, shareholder balances & disallowed expenses reduced; $1.6M by 97% & $2.9M by 92% (reversed pen. & int.) appealed to Federal Tax Court.
He is a gentleman, honest, dedicated, performs work well & advises timely. Extremely organized & doesn’t miss a thing. Fees are very fair & reasonable, value of results far outweighs fees. Knows tax laws & litigation process & navigates with precision.
Took a few years to dig out of the CRA black hole. Mr. Yasny & forensic accountant was key to success. We are grateful always.

Richard Yasny helped us deal with an assessment under s.160 non arms length transfer. We had never been to the tax court before so as you can imagine, we were very nervous and had many questions. Richard helped us by explaining the process and answering any questions we had. After speaking with him for awhile we could see that he was very knowledgeable and he eased many of our concerns.When we had any follow up questions he was always available to answer them. His fees were fair and reasonable. After our tax court appeal we had a six figure combined assessment of tax and interest eliminated. I would highly recommend him. Thanks Again Richard.

i was facing a net worth reassessment that was over $2.3 million .The Cra auditors were extremely aggressive and in my opinion were determined to destroy me financially .I cannot afford high priced law firms and lawyers I hired were getting nowhere with the audit and were advising me that not much of anything could be done.It was at that time that I was fortunate to be referred to Richard Yasny . Right from my first meeting with Richard he saw flaws in the CRA's audit process that gave me hope,I knew I did NOT owe these amounts to the CRA and Richard believed me.We fought the CRA's net worth assessment audit through 2 objections and I have been reassessed for $50,000,that is 2% of the original assessment amount .We strongly believe the CRA is still mistaken and have appealed to the Tax Court of Canada . My tax case was complicated. The Government said I owed $3.4 million. This was about a corporation I helped run more than ten years ago so I did not have many documents but I had to prove my case. It dealt with WSIB payroll and tax laws.Richard Yasny helped me understand what the Government was saying and what we had to do. He explained to me each step in a simple way. I had great confidence in his advice. We had a long trial but he and Yan Payne used the Government’s own witnesses to show the Government was wrong and I completely won my case, all costs were rewarded in my favour as well. I could not ask for a better lawyer.
