I’m writing this review now because it’s literally taken 20 yrs seeking help for Treatment Resistant Depression caused by PTSD from the trauma Sandra Lax caused me in yr 2000. I divorced 12/1999 after 20 yrs of marriage & was awarded LIFETIME ALIMONY of 100k a yr. My ex filed motion to end alimony before receiving 1st payment,falsely alleging cohabitation. I didn’t have counsel therefore missed the 1st hearing In which his motion was denied judge citing “no evidence” & “wording in decree relating to cohabitation was ambiguous”. They refilled motion immediately & I was able to borrow 15k to retain Lax to represent me at upcoming court date. SHE FAILED TO DO ANYTHING AFTER taking 15k to represent me for this court date. Shortly thereafter I received by mail, a judgment granting a default judgment ending my lifetime alimony award.This was just the start, my dealings with her got worse,she’s an evil, abusive unethical liar & I never regained alimony. She destroyed past 20 yrs of my life.

She is ineffective, unprofessional (raises her voce to talk over you, threatens you when you don't agree with her position), farms out her work and charges you for the time she spends bringing the other lawyer up to speed, as well as the new lawyers time, all without you knowledge) excessive fees, ask your self if your want to spend $250,000 to represent your kids, wouldn't that be better spent on their college education. She is rude, incompetent and does maintain the respect of her peers. She misrepresents orders from the bench to suit her personal whims. you would b e better off giving your ex and extra $100,000 than dealing with this attorney. Thank God that CT has revised fees for kiddie attorneys to limit fees in some circumstances. Go to court watch her performance, pick any other kiddie attorney and you will be much better off.

As stated above, poor communication, uncourteous demeanor and mysterious unexplained charges to this client. Clearly this individual is only in the business to make an easy buck.

A friend of mine used Sandra Lax and to my understanding she has been completely unprofessional in her verbal communications, representation, and billing. I was so upset about the way my friend has been treated that i decided to write a review. How does her unethical behavior provide any reassurance to those that use lawyers to defend them?
I was delighted to hear that new reforms have been made where the GALs will be under stricter review and subject to removal for such actions.

I believe that Ms. Lax overcharged me multiple times throughout handling my case. She charged me for things that didn't even pertain to my case. I asked her about these charges and she ignored me and continued to bill me. I believe she didn't understand my situation or even cared at all.
