Did not follow written insturctions, overbilled, double billed and acted in matters he was not authorized too. If you are a bank and have an unlimited legal budget he will work wonders for you, if you are a small company or personal matter, Howard's main objective is to get a engagement letter signed and then rack up the legal bills as quick as possible... sometime billing 8 to 12 hours a day... right when he also has other clients. He will be 6 hrs to draft an email

Lawyer or Lair!?I was introduced to H.Manis from a mutual friend,Manis does not know anything about construction cases!First visit he told me not to worry I will win your case, I know the other lawyer and you have very solid documents,he grabbed my file without agreeing on charges,cause was a refer from a friend!he said! that was it!Then I was running after him to get any news, took two years then offered me to settle!I was frustrated! there was a lean on my house,he promised me to win the case! now to settle!So I agreed,The disaster happened during the settlement time about two hours discussion with the other lawyer, I was the one defending myself trying to get it done in a proper way, but he was playing with his phone all time!We left and he said we will win the case,you did very good! Few days later he said other party wants go to trial!which would cost much more!In the end I paid him almost$11000 ,other party $27,000 to settle!Conflict amount was $33,000! now you judge!lawyer or la

Do not, I repeat, do not even attempt to give this lawyer the benefit of the doubt, EVER! He will do everything that the reviews say he will do to you. He will actively avoid confrontation with everyone but you. This is bad because he is such an awful lawyer you will have to confront him. Do not trust HOWARD MANIS with your case. WHENEVER YOUR TRY TO REACH THEM ON AN URGENT BASIS OR IN NORMAL MATTERS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH HOWARD MANIS.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM AT YOUR TIME OF NEEDS.
MAY BE A GOOD LAWYER BUT NOT GOOD IN INTERACTION AND KEEPING UP WITH COMMITMENTS.BETTER TO FIND SOME OTHER LAWYERS WHO WOULD LISTEN TO AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTIONS. I sincerely hope that any client considering using Howard's services read this review. AVOID HOWARD. He will issue bill after bill and automatically charge your credit card prior to you reviewing the bill and against your consent. He'll put a junior inexperienced lawyer on your file and both the junior lawyer and Howard will double charge for the same work. You will find out when you speak with Howard that he is absolutely clueless about your case. He just loves to bill. He will only get in touch with you if there is any issue paying him. He will prolong your case for his own benefit. I spoke with a certain staff member who directed me to this site, and further informed me that the positive reviews here were entered by a staff member as instructed by Howard! Howard is the epitome of slimy. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets banned from practicing in the foreseeable future. I reiterate my advice based on my own first hand experience: AVOID HOWARD.

Avoid this lawyer. The opposing lawyer in my case had to file papers against him to get him to react to the case. He charged by credit card without permission and refused to reverse until we discussed the details of the bill. I filed a complaint against him with the law society. This man who claims to want to help, only likes to bill. He does not communicate at all. I let him go and hired a new lawyer. He refused to turn over the file to the new lawyer claiming that I did not pay. His delay caused financial damages to all parties involved. I repeat, avoid this lawyer.

When I met him, I took him at his word on what he was promising and that was my mistake. He did absolutely nothing on our file. u had to follow up with the other party on my own because they were complaining that he wouldn't return their emails. The only communication I got from him was his bills. I wouldn't have minded paying the bill if he actually did anything. Without exaggeration, he did NOTHING at all. DO NOT USE HIM! FIND ANOTHER LAWYER! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

A SHARK, NON CARING, EVASIVE. There should be a negative rating. Howard Manis comes across in his first meeting well. Now he has you hooked. He took a very monumental case in my life, and did nothing. I asked to see the statement of defense he supposedly filed. It took him 6 months to give me a copy. He claims it was filed, but I never saw it or approved it. I didn't hear from him for 6 months and then I get a distress call from his office that we must go to disclosure. No one would explain to me what was going on. His billing is absurd. When I fired him, he billed me again. He would not itemize any billing despite numerous requests. He would not turn over my file to the new lawyer. I understand from my new lawyer, opposing counsel had to file a motion against Mr. Manis to get him to react to their many requests. His lack of action and delay cost me months of additional interest & legal fees on a claim. My new layer settled in 90 days. WARNING Do not hire this lawyer!

I found Howard said just the right things at precisely the right moment to get me through a difficult bankruptcy. His support enabled me to cope emotionally and financially through two years of difficult negotiations. Other clients need to realize they're likely not as important as they may think they are. The legal world moves at a slower and more ordered pace than most other professions for good reason... the clients best interest! Chances are you hired a lawyer because you were in trouble and sometimes that sticks to you. It's too easy to blame the lawyer and not take ownership of your own mess! Nearing the end of my case I must say Howard was very patient and I was treated very fairly with respect to his fee. I strongly recommend Howard for your legal needs.

AVOID THIS LAWYER. Specifically: Howard puts Howard’s interests first. At the first meeting he’s very friendly and reassuring. All of this changes the minute you hire him. He will hit you with one bill after the other. You will only hear from him when he requests payments. Subject matter knowledge is questionable at best. Work quality is entirely lacking with no regard for the client’s interests. Value for work is non-existent. I regret the day I retained Howard and I hope this review helps others avoid my big and very costly mistake.

He was my husband attorney for bankruptcy. He didn’t advise us properly. Because of his poor work, I am losing my house. He referred us to a trusty who didn’t do her job properly. He told me if your husband claims bankruptcy you won’t lose your house. But it was a big mistake to hire him.

This guy is the most crooked,incompetent, unqualified ( half the time doesn't even know the law he specializes in),he's uncommunicative, dishonest, bills at exorbitant rates while absolutely accomplishing nothing. He double bills for the same task repetitively and logs communications that have not taken place, so he can pad his bill. It's so blatant, that even Justice Newbould in a recent endorsement mentions the obvious padding of his accounts. He's a wimp in court and agrees with whatever the opposition proposes. He immediately backs off on a legally valid position if the opposition is stronger or more forceful. He does not even read what is served on him - twice in the last month he claims he did not get documents, which were served directly to his office, signed for and receipt was acknowledge by him. He has given advice which proves contrary to law and to the detriment of the value of assets in the matter. Even a self represented litigant has beat him in court. Avoid this guy

Avoid going to this lawyer at any cost. he does not care about the situation of his clients. as soon as you talk to him over the phone. he will send you a huge bill. . He will shows "ALL GOOD" behavior until he gets retainer from you. after that you will realize how badly you got screwed. My biggest mistake was going to him for most sensitive matter in my life.he will suck every single penny from your account. DISHONEST LAWYER. thats it !

He verbally claimed to be able to get results, but in the end all we got was an expensive bill. His communication was terrible. At one point we were waiting to hear back from HIM , he sent an email asking us how we wanted him to proceed. We didn't know what he was talking about because he had not communicated with us for over a month!
