I was arrested late Friday/early Saturday morning and was charged with three serious offences, including assault with a weapon. I called Mr. Hicks at 4:00 in the morning and by Saturday afternoon, Mr. Hicks had arranged for me to be released with only minimal conditions. His quick work prevented me from having to stay in jail for the weekend, which would have been extremely difficult for me because I have serious health concerns.
Mr. Hicks took care of everything. I didn't have to do anything until the day of the final hearing, when it was confirmed that the charges were withdrawn. It was the best possible outcome, and a huge relief, and I have Mr. Hicks to thank for that.
Mr. Hicks was responsive, helpful, and clear in explaining the process and what to expect. He listened and understood my perspective and worked to make sure I was fairly represented. Without hesitation, I would recommend having him as counsel.

My 18 year old son broke up with his girlfriend and then she went to the police and said he had assaulted her while they were dating. My son was charged with 3 assaults, forcible confinement, threatening and sexual assault. We went to a local Oshawa lawyer who told us my son should plead guilty to assault and threatening and that he would go to jail for 30-60 days. We asked around and then we were referred to Tom.
The first thing Tom told my son was that he knew he wasn’t guilty because there were so many things that didn’t make sense about his ex-girlfriend’s story. We hired Mr. Hicks because my son went from feeling hopeless to feeling like someone was finally listening to him.
The trial lasted 4 days. Tom spent a day and a half cross-examining my son’s ex-girlfriend. I wasn’t in the court room (because I was a witness and had to wait outside) but my son said that Tom proved she had lied about many things. At the end of the trial my son was found not guilty of all charges.

I was charged over 80 last year. I won the trial last week. I was looking for many lawyers, until i met tom. When i first saw tom, i knew he is the lawyer that i was looking for. He is smart, honest and reliable.
Everytime when we met, tom was talking to me patiently since English is my second language. He tried to explained to me in differeny ways and kept telling me i got a really good chance about the case. I trusted him, never had a doubt. If you want the most honest and fact finding delivery lawyer you have found him. As a Federal Police Officer who found myself as becoming an accused for a trial, I have to say this entire situation would simply not have been survivable had I not Hired Mr. Hicks. My husband was charged with impaired n over 80 last year. Tom won this trial yesterday brilliantly.i He is very polite,smart,honest,knowledgeable lawyer. Above all very respectful man in court as well. My husband n I got our smiles back just coz of Tom. A number of years ago, I was charged with "Over 80". I was referred to Tom who over the course of several years navigated my case through the courts and eventually had the charge downgraded to a careless driving charge, a fine and an "Alcolock" installation for a year which is an inconvenience but no license suspension. This all happened during a time when the laws were becoming much more severe and traditional defenses were no longer available to us. Our goal was to avoid a conviction and a criminal record. We achieved that goal. Tom was reliable, professional and reassuring without over-promising.

Tom was a great lawyer who really is as great as the other comments have mentioned. My dad was charged with refusing a breath sample because he didn't fully understand what was being demanded from him due to English being his second language. Thankfully, Tom was able to help the courts see that. Tom is really smart, polite and honest. He helped make the expierience not as bad as we thought it was going to be. A year and a half ago, I was charged with refusal to provide a breath sample. I was advised by a lawyer that it would almost be impossible to win. As stubborn as I am, and feeling that the officer crossed the line, I continued to search. Then my lucky star smiled at me and a friend of a friend, an Ex Copper Dany to whom I will always be grateful, told me that if anyone can win this thing its this guy. So I met Mr Tom Hicks. No big promises, not trying to sell him self, just a short, honest statement: "you've got a chance...not a great one but you've got a chance". And then the reason why I hired him; he said: "I would love to argue this case". So the fight began. Through the trial this really decent looking, very polite and respectful guy who rode in on his bike, was like a magician who smoothly and expertly controlled the court room. I was referred to Tom by another Lawyer after I was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80.
It was the greatest referral I have ever received. Tom took my case on with a vengeance. I was fortunate to have him on my side. My case went to trail (2days) I did not have to testify and we won. I have been a police officer for the past 15 years and as such I have come across many lawyers. I was charged with fail to provide breath sample. I can tell you that there are very few defences for this offence. Tom was recommended to me by another lawyer. Tom provided me with an honest analysis of my case. The case went to trial. Let me tell you that Tom is by far the best trial lawyer I have ever come across. So very well prepared and organized. His approach is meticulous and he is as precise as a surgeon with a blade. Tom was a beast in the court room. He is very confident but he doesn't come off as arrogant. His cross examination is deceptively good. At the end of the day I was found not guilty. In the beginning he was very upfront and told me he felt strongly that we would win but he made sure to prepare me for the worst. I have no hesitation recommending this gentlemen.
