Patti Ratekin RUINED my life as well as my kids lives! She is extremely biased and does not like men or the military. I’ve never done anything wrong in my life and have always been there for my kids. I lost everything for no reason at all…. Thank God she is retired and cannot ruin more lives. As a Christian man I cannot say more, but I hope she will pay for the many lives she has ruined! Steer clear from her! She is pure evil!

Great News! Commissioner Patti Ratekin retired. I called the San Diego court to file a grievance against her (my recent case was January 11, 2022) and the court informed me that she retired (I was hoping she was fired!) This evil person will no longer preside over cases. She oversaw my marriage dissolution and money judgement for five years and frankly, I'm elated that I no longer have to deal with her unprofessionalism and rude behavior. All the commentary that I've read, I also witnessed, first hand. The irony to her miserable career is that she never understood that she was a public servant, appointed to serve "the people". I pray that in her retirement that her heart will be changed towards people and God have mercy on her soul. From all the reviews from this website and countless others, she ruined families!

This commisioner totally forgot the history of our case with an ex who kept bringing in old check stubs and paying child support with pennies! Never followed court order or classes he was supposed to take and yet cause she despises my skin color gives a nod to a children's attorney next thing my kids were taken away from me, no drugs, no alcohol, no criminal record, no smoking nothing. So they made up "PARENTAL ALIENATION" without a shred of evidence. My declaration of evidence wasn't even allowed to be heard. 42 miles away with an alcoholic, domestic violence and pornography addict. My daughter is 11yrs old keeps being told she's brainwashed and doesn't know what she want. Although he's the one that was using up the courts time with frivolous excuses left and right yet I'm the one that's getting punished through our children. My children have NO rights, no say. This was all planned. A planned job. This is such an injustice. Prison reform is on the horizon..and soon this too one day.

Prejudges case, allows hearsay, conflates and confuses cases, allows attorneys to testify, shows preference for certain attorneys, overall terrible judge/commissioner. I have not been able to see or talk to my sons in over 2 years because of hearsay. All costs associated are assigned to me as the other party doesn't work. Has scolded me for "looking defiant" as I am being told I wouldn't be able to see my children. Terrible human.

This Commissioner needs to be admonished for the way she treats women. She refuses to hear the case in full or the facts at hand. No wonder she is not a Judge. I pray she is taken out of the System before she causes the death or severe abuses to a child's psyche due to her decisions to be one sided and with the WRONG parent. I pray one day that someone sits in her Court with the Power to REMOVE HER...…….She has NO VLUES or ETHICS!! BEWARE of her Prejudices.

She is biased, she prejudge the case before hearing even started. She is stubborn. She made a statement like THIS ONE:" Under no circumstances i will rule that you will get "this" and "that".Another her statement.After i did show that undisputed fact shows that Ms X is lying, she stated:" Ms X is credible because the events took place 16 years priors". So, de facto she admitted that Ms X was forgetting something. Ms. X demonstrated beautiful memory of the events but her testimony was complete lie story which she invented. Ms. X was a lawyer who knew Commissioner for many years. I am appealing her decision now. But she called me not credible without any reason many times because the Appeal Court cannot change her decision at this issue. At least , she is smart here. ASKED TO CHANGED HER TO THE JUDGE BEFORE YOUR CASE STARTED!

This Commissioner ruins lives and families. She is AWFUL!!! All of the reviews prior to mine with regards to her behavior is the truth, 100%. She is condescending and belittling. She sits up there and makes faces and rolls her eyes. She refuses to review any documentation that is necessary for the case. She does NOT have the best interest of the children in mind. She favors women, especially since she was a single mother and lets it be known. She is anti Law enforcement and military. She is completely biased and prejudice. Don't show up with an Attorney, if you land in Dept. 19. She'll frown upon it and side with the other party, especially if they do not have an Attorney. This woman has got to go. Zero compassion from her!

Im a Grandma who reported to CPS the pictures & bruises on my Grandson on the demands of my sons Lawyer. If fact, he wouldn't take the case if I didnt report and I have that request from him in writing. I never told them I accuse the mother even once of doing anything. I didnt know who was doing it. Well, at court, the mother told Ratekin I was being vindictive and without me saying a word she said couldn't see my Grandson.My son & Grandson were living with ME. I had to move out of my house. Then she said both my son and the mother had to agree for me to see the baby. What? The mother wasnt going to do that. Miss Ratekin, Passed judgment on ME when I wasnt part of the case & wasnt even allowed to defend myself. Both CPS & Drs found my Grandson was abused but didnt have proof of who did it. This is why people dont report abuse! I haven't seen my Grandson in months. What "judge" pulls families apart, instead of bringing them together. Look at her reviews? Shes destroyed families

Unprofessional. Showed up to conference without reading both client's statements; made a miscategorization in mind, and proceeded by being ill-informed, rude, condescending, and aggressive. What judgement to appreciate in fairness, clarity, and knowledge from this commissioner, when she has not read both parties' statements to begin with? It's a shame. Someone else of better qualities befitting of sitting on the chair of a judge, is what magnificent San Diego deserves.

Mrs Ratekin is over seeing my friends case for custody of his 2 children. She continues to scold my friend about being a bad dad when he is an amazing dad. And Mrs Ratekin is dragging the court case out over months waiting for the kids mom to be clean from her meth use. The mom has openly admitted to filling and taking her dead friends perscriptions in court and Mrs Ratekin still wants this woman to have full custody of these children. I don't understand how this is ok.

Commissioner Patti Ratekin provided mediation services during my divorce proceedings. My divorce had gone nowhere in over two years due to lawyer games designed to drag out the process until all joint assets were transferred to the lawyer’s pocket. In one day (6-7 hours) Ms. Ratekin stepped in and resolved all matters. No one got everything they wanted, but that is rarely possible. She was very knowledgeable and fair with her recommendations. The nightmare is almost over thanks to her efforts. If you are lucky enough to have her involved in your case you will see real results and a true professional. Our legal system needs more dedicated and experienced public servants like Commissioner Ratekin to clean up the mess in family court.

I spent over $75 on an attorney over the last 3 years as my child support case kept getting extended out every few months by the court. I FINALLY got the father in the mediation room with Commissioner Ratekin and she said couldn't find my folder that my attorney sent over, but she had the folder and information of the case from my ex which was all lies and made-up BS. She didn't listen to anything my attorney or I told her about the case, instead she said "oh don't worry about it. I rarely read the case before I come into mediation because I don't have time." REALLY? How about you pay for my attorney then? She is useless and needs to retire. I was only awarded $22,500 for a deadbeat dad who skipped child support and child care payments and lied about his income and his S-Corporation where he hides his money so he doesn't have to pay guideline child support. Maybe you should go back and read my case commissioner Ratekin and look at the 3-year restraining order I have against my ex

One of the worse lawyer/commissioners I've ever come across in the SD Court System! She doesn't due proper due diligence, she sits in a hearing and rolls her eyes, makes personalized character comments with no factual evidence - only bias merits! She has been sitting too long and needs to retire - hence her judgement!
