I retained Mr. Morales in September 2014. I was abandoned by him halfway through the legal process. I was charged with alleged pimping and pandering. He was very confident about my case going to a jury trial and winning and we signed a contract totaling $30,000 that covered a preliminary hearing and a jury trial. In January 2015, money laundering charges were added because of cash deposits. On the first court day in trial court in February 2015, he asked me for $70,000 more in addition to the original $30,000 contract price. I rejected his request. He kept $23,000 that I had paid him and withdrew from my case without filing any motion to request withdrawal and without any court record of why he withdrew. As a standard practice, he should have filed a motion to indicate the reasons for withdrawing, which gives the judge a chance to listen to both sides.
He abandoned my case in the middle of legal process and did not return any money to me.
