I am the mother of an autistic child and I spent a substantial sum for Ms. Perry to put a Special Needs trust together. I never received a final copy with an actual signature, and when I asked Ms. Perry to regenerate a new copy, she said she did not have the draft saved on her computer and therefore would like me to pay the entire fee to "redo" the document…even though I had the copies of the draft. I asked Ms. Perry to refund the money I spent on the trust because I'd had to have it redone by a new attorney. She declined…and in the same envelope included the signed copy of the Special Needs trust, which she had said previously she did not have! It is my belief that she held onto the document while telling me she did not have it in order to extract more money from me. I find this practice unacceptable and unethical. I hope she has not taken advantage of other clients or parents of special-needs children that often rely on the advice of attorneys to do the best thing for their kids.

Despite her having papers in question in advance of consultation, it was obvious from her responses that she had not read the papers for a reliable legal opinion. Her time spent catching up to the problem added to her fees & my costs. She may be very capable otherwise: I didn't stay with her to find out.
