When Alberta Legal Aide approved my application, they assigned me Cecily Kenwood. I had just escaped DV, my abuser was attempting to convince the courts that I had post partum depression and was a danger to myself and our child.
When I walked in and met her, my eyes went wide. Her office was a**** show, it looked like a recycling center. There was no greeting or welcoming chat. I got "follow me". Door open, she talked at me. Not with me, not to me, AT me. I was a bad mom for keeping our child away, I was likely looking for money, I'd be better off letting him have custody so I could get my life together, women usually exaggerate to get what they want, and the list goes on.
I saw her picture today and started shaking with anxiety, all sorts of emotions from saddness, hurt, to now pure anger. This was 11 years ago and this woman still has an impact from what she put me through.

Complete idiot, if you want to be treated like stool, have no communication with your lawyer and would like to drag things out as long as humanely possible then she should be your first call. If not find someone else.

Cecily Kenwood does not actually take initiative to care for her cases and clients. This comes not only from my personal experience but what I have heard within the community as well. When I came in to review my case she blatantly told me that my opinion/voice did not matter. That it was my word against his and his looked better. She wouldn't fight for me or what I was asking. Never even asked what I wanted. Looked at the file and told me what to do and did it with out discussion. I quite literally met with her on one occasion to review and the time in which we met was under an hour and not close to what I would have like. I may have had her assigned to me via Legal Aid, I am still paying for it in the long wrong. I have a monthly bill to be submitted for the charges made to my account by her. As far as I am concerned she should retire before her burn out causes more families distress.

I enjoyed the work that Kenwood did for me in real estate. She made it easy to deal with a seller who was not particularly honest. I'd definitely choose her practice again.

She was awesome! Well worth every cent. I couldn't have asked for a more carefree settlement. All of the drama stopped once his lawyers learned who I hired. Thank you again Mrs. Kenwood for my life back. You were there to make it beautiful again.

The mother of my daughter abducted my daughter in 2000. I did not phone the police like I should have. Different state of mind back then being only 23. I finally found her. unbenounced to me, my mother looked the number up and called. first words out of my ex's mouth was "How Did You Find Me?" within a week I was due in court in lethbridge. I seeked council & got cecily. I told her that my ex abducted our little girl 3 years prior and all she had to say(in a snotty little voice) was "well, what do you want. You haven't seen her or paid for her in 3 years.cecily set up a time and place for me to make contact with my daughter. cecily sent my to the other end of town to an empty parking lot. cecily stepped down before court. judge coward looked at my ex then me, asked what do you want. I started speaking. judge screams YOU WANT,YOU WANT,YOU WANT. SLAM OF THE GAVEL. Never saw my daughter. THIS PIECE OF STOOL cecily kenwood HAS NO BUSINESS BEING being a lawyer and should imprisoned......

Cecily Kenwood has been my lawyer for many years now and is my first and only choice for a lawyer who is intelligent, caring, detail oriented and easy to communicate with. If you need a lawyer who is intimidating, expensive, and hard to communicate with, don't call Cecily.

Quite passive and easily intimidated. Scatter brained and flighty. I was incredibly lucky that my ex didnt bother to show up to court or I would've had a massive issue with the custody battle even with an EPO in place! I don't recommend if you need someone who can legitimately fight for you!

She seemed very flustered and I had very little confidence in her abilities while watching her in court. Scatter-brained and a push-over, I was lucky that I didn't need her to fight for my rights, because I don't know that she could have.
