I hired abram heisler for an eviction case where I was being evicted from my affordable home, because it was slated for demolition for an apartment complex. With todays housing market I couldn't find any where to go, and needed to stick it out while i looked for housing. Mr. Heisler was recommended to me by 2 lawyers and a close friend. He was worth what he charged ten times over. He kept me in the house another year, and i got all my rent back for 2022 and a monetary settlement. He was knowledgeable, communicative, and receptive to what i needed from him. I wouldn't hire any other lawyer. And just to note other than the 2 lawyers and friend that recommended him, When i was at court I ran in to an old friends step father who is a lawyer, when I told him who was representing me he just said "You're in good hands", and to top it off he seems to have a great re pore with everyone at the courthouse.

I hired Mr Heisler in December 2019 to seek damages and back rent from a tenant. I paid him his fee. And since then there has been no results. I’ve reached out to him multiple times and in the beginning he said he was having a hard time finding her even though we knew where she worked. He then said courts were backed up. Months passed and he slowly stopped communicating with me. I even asked for my money back and he said he did a lot of work. But never explained what he actually did. And he asked for time. He has now stopped all communication and I filed a complaint with BBB. They emailed me saying they are closing their case because he has not responded to them. I simply asked for money back. Tenant owes me over 10K. So I at least wanted to recoup money I paid him. I will never recommend him. And what’s said is that he came highly recommended to me.

Would not return a call or email.. ever. Was passive aggressive on every issue and kept pushing things off with postponements. I never got my deposit back on a lease and he basically did nothing to help my situation. Don't get involved with him... he is a very lazy guy in general...

Absolutely superb attorney that is adept and knowledgeable in dealing with housing litigation. Got me out of an unique and challenging situation. Altruistic and a great family man that goes well and beyond to help his clients. He has a great heart as well. I would highly recommend this attorney

I hired Abram Heisler to evict a tenant who was very difficult to deal with. My husband and I are on a fixed income, and my husband is disabled. We were renting an apartment to make ends meet. Our situation backfired and our tenant went four months without paying. Abram met me, gave us a VERY fair price and served the tenant a notice to quit that same day. We went to court, and the tenant was evicted effective immediately. Abram kept telling me not to worry, and was kind and thoughtful. I wish I had gone with much sooner. My situation was a disaster, and Abram fixed for me. I'm very grateful. He is so well respected within the courthouse and legal community and he has a truly big heart. Don't hesitate if you are on the fence. There is no one better in the Norwalk area. I will never use a different attorney.

Abram Heisler is a horrible attorney. He will throw you under the bus. Heisler sides with the opposition and can not be trusted. Heisler failed to present important evidence to a vindictive Board of Directors at Southport Woods Condominiums. He humiliated his client before the Board. He acted like a little girl, curling up like a wimp at the hearing, at these defendants expense. He repeatedly insulted us calling us names like "Rats," because we objected to another residents harassment and reported him to the Board. He failed to follow up and follow through on our case and we were charged over $5,000.00 by the Association. Heisler insisted that the Board of Directors has the legal right to single us our, discriminate against us, harass us and make us indemnify them for a bluestone walk path that we installed due to a disability in the household and lighting, so we could benefit from Reasonable Accommodation. Heisler is a lier, unethical, throws his clients under the bus. Stay clear!

Great attorney, He saved me in a pinch with an eviction and i am able to move on with cash for keys when the eviction wasn't towards me as a tenant it was for the owner of the house but the bank took over and i had no clue

Abram Heisler is an expert in Housing law. He is very fair and does not take advantage of his clients. I would not want to be on the opposing end of Abram Heisler. He represents landlords and tenants. Whom ever hires him first generally ends up prevailing on the case. Abram has went up against two rogue landlords and a PIA Condominium Associations, Board. In the Landlord cases he kept us in the apartment rent free for 6-months and obtained us a cash settlement for $13,000.00. Here we were being discriminated against by a Darien landlord. He got us 5-months free rent after we were being discriminated against by a Fairfield landlord after we notified the Landlord learned that I was pregnant and refused to renew our lease. Both handled out of court. Abram has a good heart and believes in his clients. Abram respects the Courts too. Mr. Heisler saved us thousands and made us thousands, Attorney Abram is the unquestionably Derek Jeter of Housing law ! Retain him today, for your future!

I have known Attorney Heisler for fifteen years, and he has handled several delicate, as well as difficult cases for myself and my family. He is one of the most hard working lawyers I know, and...I know A LOT of them, on top of it he is HONEST, and frankly, charges too little for the level of knowledge he possesses along with the exceptional service he provides. He is courteous, hard working, and professional. He is a bit overwhelmed, unfortunately, sometimes, due to the amount of pro-bono work that he does, however, it is evident that he is still one of the FEW attorneys practicing today that is doing what he does...FOR THE RIGHT reasons, and NOT for the $$$.You will NOT find a better Attorney in the entire state of Connecticut to represent you.I have recommended him over and over, and will never need anyone when it comes to housing issues again. Sleeps with his assistant. She told me Mr. abram heisler took her on a vacationa and they were going to get married. She showed me photos of them together.Very disgusting. My wife left the office immediately.

Abram Heisler has handled 4 cases for me over many years. I am a sole landlord and he has dealt with many issues that bad tenants threw at me. He knows housing law and will help out those who need his help. I could barely pay and he let me make payments. He is a family man and understanding. He's smart as hell, and I would rather have him on my side than some of the other atty's I interviewed. He even came out to my house and reviewed the unit in person. How many atty's would do that?

This attorney has been taken to task twice by his ethics board. Once was for borrowing money. I met him running for common council. He seemed friendly then he borrowed money from me while telling his ethics board on the previous loan he was sorry. Another and deliberate ethics violation. He wrote me thousands in bad checks and told me they were not bad until I cashed them so it was MY fault they were bad. Then he admitted he knew I was in a severe depressed state when he borrowed the money, quite abusive. He would continually make appointments and not show and turn his phone off so you couldn't contact him. When I got angry he would attack me for being a horrible person, though I loaned him over $20K. Absolutely no gratefulness. He even referred to an old accident where a **** bicyclist died running into my car and said I was not a nice guy because I killed a bicyclist. He can be good at what he does but remember he has had no problem lying to his own ethics board. Use with caution

He is 1 of the most hard working lawyers I know, and...I know A LOT of them! He is HONEST, and unmatched for the level of knowledge he possesses.
He is the MOST experienced housing attorney in Connecticut; in fact, at one time in court a Judge stated while he was representing me that Attorney Heisler could WRITE the housing "book," as he has so much experience in this field, as well as how the appeals process works! I have yet to have any other attorney be held in such high regard from any Judge in my lifetime, and I have had plenty of them.
You will NOT find a better Attorney in CT to represent you. In 1 case when he the JUDGE asked him what the law was, and what would be the "forks" in the road that were possible; I have never in my life seen a Judge asking an attorney what possibilities exist once their decision was rendered before! It speaks volumes as to his level of expertise & fundamental knowledge of the laws concerning housing matters.

From my first day for free consultation in March 2013 till the present time I had two court appearances under the care of Attorney Abram J. Heisler who saved my family from being evicted. He personally went above and beyond what is expected to postpone the eviction my family of four children from the house. He enabled me to stay in the house for the last 8 months.

I am very dissatisfied with this attorney. He is unresponsive and disorganized. He did not seem to know the procedure for a basic matter in a courthouse across the street from his office - a courthouse where he is a "regular". I would not recommend this attorney to anyone other than the person I was suing!

Seems unorganized, and constantly misses deadlines. A simple lease agreement could not be completed after 3 months, and had to be taken elsewhere. Perhaps better suited for evictions, but not lease agreements.
