During an extreme emotional time I was in need of a lawyer, a good one.

I have read some of the reviews that complain about Mr. Kormos' unnecessary costs. He was once my lawyer and I agree that he is not careful about how he spends his clients money. The work he did on my case could have had the same results with at least half of the costs.

I came to Ben with a very socially sticky problem that had so much grey area that it was difficult for me to navigate. Ben carefully looked at the situation, contacted the claimant's lawyer, and found path to resolution that was WAY beyond my expectations. He saved me close to 80K with his patience and gentle persuasion to trust his plan and methods. I also learned a lot about the process...I simply had to ask and he replied frankly, clearly and without bias and judgment on my naivete. It was all quickly handled and within my budget. I will be coming to him again with ANY need within his expertise. Also, I read the two negative reviews presented here..there are some things that are beyond the influence of the best at any profession. Legal issues are frequently very complicated (if it was easy, we would all do it) and not ALWAYS resolvable to your benefit. I came away from my experience with Ben thinking that he had applied a well informed, creative approach that most would have missed.

Ben represented me in a private company shareholder dispute. He quickly assessed the situation, reviewed relevant documentation and engaged the opposing parties in initial discussions to resolve the issues. It soon became apparent that it would be necessary to file a claim and proceed through court, arbitration or a negotiated settlement. Ben efficiently translated a complicated situation into a concise but comprehensive claim that stood up well throughout the process. The quality of the claim and Ben's ability to argue the case verbally and in written volleys with the other parties facilitated a fair settlement that avoided significant additional costs for all parties had the matter proceeded further. I highly recommend Ben.

Endless back and forth discussions and reviews but zero solutions. Repetitive emails with no point other than to take up time and bill the client. No results other than what I understand is termed "working the file" and coming up with billable charges. A waste of time for me the client. Maybe at one time he was good.

This “gentleman” has a reputation among lawyers as being very litigious, pedantic, needlessly argumentative and runs up costs for his clients. His “solutions” are impractical. He is NOT client friendly nor even interested in solving his client’s problems. We had him involved in a family matter relying on him to advise us on our options. His advice was useless. We finally figured out for ourselves what he should have advised us at the beginning of our retainer and he acknowledged same. He’s fond of writing long emails which do nothing to advance matters but are certainly helpful in lining his pockets. He’s needlessly argumentative and does not respond well if challenged. When we began asking other estate lawyers about him, the reviews were almost unanimously negative.

I have found Mr. Kormos to be extremely good at what he does. He listens well and has tackled successfully a rather difficult legal case against a prominent real estate firm in Calgary.
